Author

Jessica Kelly

Author.  Dreamer.  Entrepreneur. That's how Jessica Kelly describes herself.  Just like the main character in her first book, Trick Play, Jessica believes that hard work is the key to success.  Luckily, though, creating new characters and new plot twists doesn't feel like work to her!  Jessica has always had a passion for writing, and she has dreamed of becoming a successful author for more years than she can count. So what about the "Entrepreneur" part? That proves just how serious Jessica is about turning her dream into reality.  Her goal isn't to write a book or two in her spare time.  Instead, she's focused on building a successful writing career from the ground up.  She's not content to JUST have a dream.  She's willing to do whatever it takes to make it come true. Jessica began living the dream the moment she started writing Trick Play.  When she's not dreaming up new story ideas, this native Floridian can be found spending quality time with friends and family, soaking up the sun on the beach, and -- of course -- reading. Jessica loves hearing from her readers.  Connect with her on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/jessicakellyauthor or on Twitter at http://twitter.com/WritingJessica

    Desperate Destiny - Jessica Kelly

    Chapter 1

    ––––––––

Taylor looked up at her in the moonlight.  Célia, baby, I need you.

He ran his fingers across her perfect cheekbone to her luscious lips, teasing, nibbling.  She retaliated, catching his tongue and biting it just hard enough to seal her promise to give him more.  Because she always did.

Because he was never quite satisfied.

Not that she wasn't hot.  Célia Dupuis was more than hot.  She was a world-famous model, a daughter of these islands.  And if he wanted her, she was his.  His fingers roamed inside her bikini top to her tight nipples.

So hot, he whispered, cupping her firm breast with his hand, pulling her down to him.

    Baby.  Oh, baby, she whimpered.

You want it too, Célia.  He found his way inside the tiny bikini bottom, stroking her, claiming her.  If there was anything this hot model loved, it was sizzling hot sex.  And he was more than anxious to give her exactly what she wanted.  Right here on his beach.  All night.  Taylor settled in on all the right places, determined to take her over the top for her first.

But then came the flash of light.

Oh my god!  Taylor!  What was that?  She sat up suddenly, interrupting his lust.

Taylor lifted his face from inside her halter, frustrated as hell.  Who cares?

    But...

He pressed her closer Célia, you were about to...

Taylor!  That was frightening!  What was it?

So much for sex on the beach, he silently grumbled.  It was a light, Célia.  How about we resume this inside, right after... He couldn’t help that he was about to explode.

She jumped to her feet and stared at the moonlit waves.  Taylor, look!  In the distance.

Exasperated, he sat up, followed her outstretched arm, took a deep breath, and stared out across the sea towards the horizon.  A ship no doubt, he thought as he focused in on the flickering, almost glowing object.  He stared at it for a few moments, wishing that it would disappear as quickly as it had appeared, and that he could get back to business.

    But it didn't.

What the hell?  Momentarily forgetting his arousal, Taylor stood up and stared at the blue triangular glow.  From the looks of it, he guessed it was a mid-sized sailing craft—except that it vanished every few seconds, then reappeared in an entirely different place.

My god, Taylor, what is it?!

Before he could give her any kind of answer, the flickering flame vanished into the sea—as if it had sunk.

Thank god.  Nothing.  At least nothing that can be scientifically explained.

You and your science, she said.

He sensed that she was almost irritated with his completely logical answer.  Certainly nothing to be afraid of, he whispered as he resumed his position on the giant lounger, pulling her towards him.

    Of course it is!

Only in these islands, he said, resuming his attention to her most secret places.

You’re not paying attention, Taylor!  She jumped up again and searched the horizon.  This could be a curse.

Of course, he thought to himself.  In the islands, everything unexplained is a curse.  No sense in arguing.  It was a ship, Célia.

But I saw it.  It wasn't just a ship, Taylor.  It was a ghost ship!  Her gigantic dark eyes grew larger, as if the very thought of a ghost ship was more than she could take.

Baby, let me take care of you.  I can make it all go away.  He reached up and pulled on her bikini bottom.  Do you like this, sexy Célia?

Maybe, she whimpered as he had his way with her.

You like that, don't you baby, he said after a long blissful interlude. How about we do what we do best.

Yes, she moaned, lost in his persistence.  Yes!

    Chapter 2

    ––––––––

So where were you last night?

Not that it's any of your business, brother, Taylor teased as he poured his much-needed cup of coffee.

Aren’t you touchy, Ty grinned.  That model girlfriend of yours keeping you awake at night?

    I'll never tell.

Spoken like a true Montgomery gentleman, Ty said, laughing.

Montgomery gentlemen!  Tell me it ain't so!  Can you imagine the panic among very willing women if they find out you're gentlemen?!  Beau Henley shouted as he walked into their offices, donuts in hand, and headed straight for the coffee.

Taylor couldn’t help but laugh.  None of them were exactly morning people—especially after an evening with a very desirous woman.  But duty called every morning.  They'd worked hard building CIE, Ile St. Clare's premier marine archaeology firm.  It was, after all, their shared dream.  Not to mention that each of them had walked away from their families' extensive business holdings.  But here they were in these amazing Caribbean islands, living out their dreams.

Taylor could hardly deny that money had its privileges.  Then again, so did hard work.  Beau, you are insane.  You know that, right?  Although he was a year younger, Taylor had known Beau for as long as he could remember.  I mean for your entire life, you've been crazy.

It's part of my charm, Beau replied before taking a giant bite out of a donut.

Part of your charm, Taylor snickered under his breath.  Beau's charm made him irresistible to women—and he loved every single minute of it.

Anyway, as I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted, Ty continued.  Then he saw another familiar face arrive.  Oh, nice to see you, Cody.

What were you saying, Ty?  Cody rubbed his eyes. He looked exhausted. Taylor couldn’t help but think that Cody's night had gone like his.  Plenty of hot sex.

Did any of you see that island light show last night?

Taylor almost choked on his coffee.  You saw it, Ty?!

No, but I sure as hell heard about it from the staff first thing this morning.  Seems the entire island is talking about it.

Of course they are, Taylor groaned, thinking back to his frustrations.  You may have been interrupted, but she rewarded you tenfold afterwards, he reminded himself.

So you saw it? Ty asked.

I did, Taylor grumbled.  Damn thing interrupted me.

You look satisfied to me, Cody grinned.

Brief interruption, I'll admit.  But, yes, I saw it.  Nothing odd about it.  It was a ship.  A sailing ship.

And you say there was nothing odd about it? Ty asked with a cocked eyebrow.  Then why is everyone at the museum buzzing?

Because they sense a curse, Ty, Taylor replied sarcastically.  Célia is convinced it was a ghost ship.  It flickered in and out, kind of glowed in the darkness, then disappeared out of sight.

    That's it?

    That's it, Ty.

I'll do what I can to calm the panic.  Speaking of which, Ty paused to pour himself a second cup of coffee, I'm headed off to Dominic's Caribbean resort on St. Michel.  Remember we discussed hiring his architecture firm for the new wing of our museum?  I suggest we keep it in the family.

Spoken like a true Montgomery, Cody said, laughing.  "You have a never-ending stream of successful
