FADE IN:
INT. MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND INDUSTRY (CHICAGO) - DAY
SUPERIMPOSE: 22, AUGUST 2015. SATURDAY.
A gaping crowd drifts among walls covered in marble. They move in front of airplanes hanging from wire ropes and locomotives waiting on rails.
The languages of different nations are interwoven, which is interrupted by the VOICE of the museum guide:
MUSEUM GUIDE (O.S.)
Sir! If you would step a bit backward, please. Thank you.
In the ring of people, in front of a life-size granite statue we can catch a glimpse of the museum guide. The man wears glasses, is about 30 years old and of average build. He gives a lecture on the story of the statue.
MUSEUM GUIDE
The work of art depicts the lifelike portrait of professor Edward Brown. Philosophical...
A five-year-old little girl steps out of the queue of the listeners, in front of the museum guide.
LITTLE GIRL
What is there in the palm of the man?
While the museum guide crouches down in front of the little girl, we approach the right palm of the statue, which holds a human brain shaped from granite.
MUSEUM GUIDE (O.S.)
The man was a famous scientist who researched the human mind all his life.
We get so close to the brain that its sulci and gyri are visible.
And then, suddenly...
The outside world grows still around us, then we get through the sulci and gyri, straight into the interior of the brain.
We are hurtling through a million neurons
when a wormhole-like formation opens up and sucks us in and we fall into the past through its winding routes...
DISSOLVE TO:
INT. DIAGNOSTICS ROOM/PRIVATE HOSPITAL (CHICAGO) - DAY
SUPERIMPOSE: 2, JULY 2010. FRIDAY.
We can see the MRI image of a human brain. We move back and catch a glimpse of the monitor screen.
PROF. EDWARD BROWN, 52, analyzes the MRI image. The athletic-looking scientist connects a pen drive to the computer.
During this time we focus on a smaller monitor on which we can see that the MRI bed with a middle-aged man lying on it slides out of the interior of the large magnetic coil.
EDWARD
Parker! Load the program.
PARKER WILSON, 55, the colleague of Edward sits in front of a laptop and waits for the program to be loaded. The scientist has a lean figure and wears glasses. He is busy typing on the keyboard.
- LAPTOP SCREEN:
Different graphs and symbols appear...
PARKER
The program is running. Press the Enter key.
Edward pushes down the Enter key, then a ghost shadow-like memory fragment of the examined subject appears on the monitor screen.
- MONITOR SCREEN:
Flashes of human faces and city images pop up, then a saucer-shaped UFO...
EDWARD
Oops! Have you seen it, too?
He stops the recording.
PARKER
What the heck?
Edward plays the recording back and stops it when the UFO appears.
EDWARD
Who is the subject?
Parker rolls his chair in front of a monitor. He hits some keys on the keyboard of the computer and the health care datasheet of the subject appears.
PARKER
(reads the screen)
The subject is Andrew Smith. He is a 58-year-old inhabitant in Chicago. He complains of severe headache.
Edward clicks with the mouse a few times and copies the recording to the pen drive.
EDWARD
I’m making a copy.
PARKER
Are you aware that this...
EDWARD
Relax. There won’t be any problems. I’m only asking you to keep it a secret.
Parker hesitates for a moment then he pretends to zip up his mouth.
PARKER
My lips are sealed.

EXT. LAKE MICHIGAN (CHICAGO) - AFTERNOON
SUPERIMPOSE: 4, JULY 2010. SUNDAY.
Over Lake Michigan the view of Chicago opens up for us.
Among the yachts floating on the water we catch glimpse of a red-and-white sailing boat. We approach the two-masted sailing boat on the side of which we can read the following inscription: CAROLINE
.
Caroline, 50, Edward’s wife sunbathes wearing a bikini in the sun. The pretty woman wears a straw hat on her head and gazes at a laptop screen.
- LAPTOP SCREEN:
Her daughter, KATY, 30, can be seen on the screen. We join in the middle of the video chat...
KATY (ON THE LAPTOP SCREEN)
Dad, how are you?
CAROLINE
He is taking a new type of medicine due to which his condition is quite good.
We HEAR Edward from the background:
EDWARD (O.S.)
Darling! Walls have ears...!
He crawls out of the cabin then he sits down next to his wife onto the corner of the sun lounger.
EDWARD
Hello, my little daughter. We are sorry that you couldn’t come.
KATY (ON THE LAPTOP SCREEN)
Lisa is going to have a performance. She is at a rehearsal now, too, with Jack.
(pause)
Where is David?
CAROLINE
Your younger brother is on a study visit in Europe. But he has promised that the family will celebrate together next year.
EDWARD
Katy! What do you say about it?
KATY (ON THE LAPTOP SCREEN)
It would be great!
Katy’s little daughter (Lisa) from the background:
LISA (O.S.)
We have arrived.
As Katy turns back, her ten-year-old little daughter already stands on her right.
CAROLINE
Lisa! My dear child...!
LISA (ON THE LAPTOP SCREEN)
Hi, granny.
Then a strong gust of wind makes Caroline’s hat drop into the lake. The woman reaches out for it but it is too late...
CAROLINE
(cries out)
Edward! My hat!
Without any consideration, Edward takes off his T-shirt and jumps into the water to get the hat.
MOMENTS LATER
Edward emerges to the surface with a bright smile, wearing the hat on his head.
Caroline laughs at her husband.
CUT TO:
EXT. MAIN ROAD (CHICAGO) - MORNING
On the busy main road, our eyes are fixed on a silver-colored Buick.
INT. BUICK - MORNING - MOVING
Edward rests his hand on the steering wheel. There is some FUNKY music on in the radio.
His cell phone starts RINGING.
He takes a look at the dashboard computer that displays Parker’s phone number. He turns the music down on the multifunction steering wheel and
