Retired Military living in Northern New York with my wife Sue. The inspiration for this book series came from Isabelle the black and white cat that seemed to always know when my wife was upset and needed attention. Currently work as a crisis hotline counselor and when the weather is nice we play golf, swim, camp and play tennis. When the weather is not so nice we play golf, (on snowshoes) and crosscountry ski. Writing is very part-time and I am grateful for the fans of Amun and, yes, I do plan on completing the series, so please be patient with me.

A Cats Tail

Or The Nine Lives of Isabelle

Book Five: Vish

By Robert Dixon

Introduction

The last time we left our hero he had completed restoring sight to a prison warden's daughter. After completing this mission he returned to the Garden and made a huge discovery of which he and his friend Ra are determined to explore upon the completion of this new mission. Good luck!

Chapter One

Once again the veil of darkness lifted with me feeling warm and cozy, securely in the embrace of Bast. No vision yet, but the smells and hearing became more acute with each passing day. I was able to hear the sounds of other animals, birds chattering about me, roars of strange creatures that I had never heard before and also my Mom as she roared out warnings for whoever they were to stay clear.

Bast? I questioned, Where are we this time?

Her response scared me somewhat and brought up visions of the prehistoric place she had taken me to back in the Garden.

Not where, Dear Amun… she said, when.

Oh! No! my thoughts screamed, Please tell me those noises I hear are not the toothy creatures we saw back in the Garden!

Chuckling, she replied, Not this time Amun, but maybe sometime, if you don't behave!

Oh! I will! I will! pleaded my reply.

Good, now rest and I will explain when we are. she said.

We were in a land far from my birth and I was born into a form that was sacred to the local people and also greatly feared.

Oh! I twitched in anticipation, I can't wait to see me!

My Mother's milk helped me grow quickly and my eyesight soon returned. The first vision was of Bast and she looked as she had upon the throne, no change. My second look was to my paws; what I saw gave me cause for pause. (Pun intended! Hehe!)

Hey! What gives! I exclaimed, I haven't changed!

No Amun, your form is the same. You were told back in the Garden that a White Tiger is sacred and so what better form to take here to help you reach your mission? she said.

Wow! So does this mean that I will grow up to be a white tiger and not be just a cub? I shivered wanting to hear her say that I would.

Yes, Amun, you will. she said as a slight laugh escaped and she shook her head at my delighted reaction.

There was only one other thing to complete the joy I was feeling, and they were discovered between my legs. Yes! I exclaimed, Thank you! Thank you! You made me whole again!

She roared with laughter, and then roared with her booming tiger voice as well. I tried to imitate her, but only a pathetic Meuuuu came out. She laughed a bit more and pulled me close for a bath. I must get you presentable for your master.

Wwwhat? I stammered under my Mother's huge tongue, It's too soon!

Your mission has begun, Amun. she said, Your new master will arrive shortly and I must leave.

Wait! my thoughts screamed as Bast bounded off deep into the forest that we had been laying in. Wait! then I tried to vocalize in my own voice for her to wait, but it came out as a loud cry. WWwwaaaaa!

Crud! She did it to me again! I thought and cried out again, WWwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

What was that? I thought as I looked around and heard something coming through the brush that had concealed me. I know my eyesight hadn’t totally returned, but what I saw was this very old human with a long white beard peering down at me with wide eyes and a shocked expression in his face.

The old man suddenly looked up and all around. His expression was one of fear and curiosity at the same time. Looking back down at me, he cooed in a gentle voice, By the God Vishnu, what are you doing here all alone?

I let out another WWwwaaa! and he looked around again with that feared look on his face. All of a sudden he felt a tugging sensation on his beard and looked down at me. I sat there playing with the long strands of his beard and a large, mostly toothless, smile spread across his face.

I certainly can't leave you here to fend for yourself, he said to me as he looked around one more time, too many wild things here that would love to make a snack of one so little as you!

Reaching down with his ancient hands, he scooped me up and placed me in a basket that lay upon his back. Inside the basket it was dark, but light came through the weaved material that it was made from and I could see that other items were here as well. My sense of smell discovered a small bundle that smelled of something familiar, Cheese!

Cats! Was he surprised when we took a rest in a while and discovered me helping myself to a hefty portion.

So, little one, the old man said, you like yak cheese!

I didn't know what a yak was, but I knew cheese. When he heard me purring in response, he smiled that toothless grin again. I foresee great things for you, little one.

He took me from the basket and sat me upon his lap as he sat under the shade of a tree. His long white hair mixed with the hair of his beard as his face drew near to my nose. My instinct was to take a swat at the old man's nose, but I contently played with his hair as it flowed all over me. He closed his eyes as I played and suddenly he drew back a bit and exclaimed, Vish!

My eyes widened and I looked around because I could have sworn he said, Fish! even a little
