About this ebook
Have you ever thought about starting a webcomic? If the answer to that question is "yes", then 'Your First Webcomic' might come in handy. It is a re-edited collection of the top seven articles on my blog about webcomic writing and design.
Although this guide is text-only, it will give you a lot of pointers about getting started, quality vs quantity, characters, backgrounds, comedy, B&W vs. Colour art and panel layout.
(If anyone is curious, the comic pages on the cover are taken from "Damania" , a long-running webcomic of mine which I still add to occasionally when I'm between other creative projects. Although it wasn't my first webcomic, it is probably my favourite one of my webcomics.)

So, you've read a lot of webcomics and you're feeling inspired enough to want to make your own? Great. You've come to the right place. Even if you don't have much experience with drawing, you can still start a webcomic. Anyone can.
Although this guide won't tell you where to post your first webcomic (there are thousands of places you can use – everything from blogging sites to your own website to dedicated art and comics sites like DeviantART and Comic Genesis), it will give you some pointers about actually making your webcomic which will come in handy if you're just starting out.
All seven chapters of this book are re-edited versions of articles from my blog, which have been collected together in this handy e-book for your convenience. Since not all e-book readers can display large images clearly, this guide will be text-only.
The comic pages on the cover are taken from "Damania, a long-running webcomic of mine which I still add to occasionally when I'm between other creative projects.
Damania wasn't my first webcomic (that honour goes to a comic called
Yametry Run), but
Damania" is probably my favourite one of my webcomics.
