Excellent bottles...view moreI'm an American who has been living in Germany for some 30 years. But I became interested in wine while still living in the States. It was a very opportune time – the early 1980s. Excellent bottles of 1982 red Bordeaux went for about $6 or $8 a bottle, and I lived in a university town with a huge wine store nearby. Talk about an advanced education!
Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against a well-made beer (especially German)! But with beer, in most cases you know exactly what you're getting. Not so with wine: there is a huge range of aromas and flavors waiting for you, more fascination, and more mystery.
After moving to Germany in 1984, I started trying more and different wines, and I started to keep notes on them. After all, I didn't want to buy a wine I didn't like a second time, and I wanted to keep track of those that I found worthy.
And that's how the idea for this book came to be…
When I'm not working as a marketing manager, I like to play tennis, read, and barbeque with family and friends. I no longer REALLY expect to become the center fielder for the New York Yankees.view less
