He was married February 6, 1951 to Veronica Chinyere (Ugo-Eze) with four daughters and four sons. He was the Area Administrator and Comptroller of Customs and Excise, Apapa, Lagos Area from 1975-1979. He received his Diploma in Public Administration and International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh in 1975, Diploma in Indirect Tax control and Excise Administration from Dans Les Services Extrieurs De Le Direction Gnrale Des Impts Paris, France in 1967, and Diploma in Customs and Excise Administration from Her Majestys Customs Training College Southend-on-Sea, England in 1967.
