Louella married young at the age of...view moreLouella Irene Bruton, was born in Blackshear Ga. on June 25, 1919. Her mother Tean Ann Townsend was a menister and a great influence on Louella. Louella married young at the age of 15 (as was custom in that day and time), to Andrew Bruton, and bore him a total of 13 children six of whch died during or shortly after birth. Louella completed the 9th grade before marrying Andrew and moved to Miami Florida where they started their family. She worked as a housekeeper before going to night school to get her high school diploma. After which she became a grocery store cashier and then went on to become a switchboard operator for a large department store. Louella was a gifted poet and writer with a vision for the future. When her own mother passed away, she went on to raise two of her sisters as well as her own seven children. Louella Bruton died on December 9, 1975 but she left behind a great legacy in her writings that we are able to enjoy today.view less
