She is originally from the parish of St. Elizabeth on the island; however, she now resides in another Parish, St. Ann, with her son. Verona Cooper began writing from she was ten years old and has been writing since. She finds writing as a form of therapy as well as an outlet or an overflow of words that allows for the provocation or stimulation of the mind. Life has been the inspiration/motivation for her work. People, their experiences when put to words show the intricacies that life holds, when one enters this planet. Verona Cooper is a Christian whose mantra is taken from Romans 8: 28 “All things work together for good for those who trust the Lord and are called according to his purpose.” She strongly believes that the experiences of life be they good or bad can make you either a winner or a whiner. However, one must first acknowledge that the one we choose to trust will certainly determine the outcome of the experience. She enjoys reading, travelling and learning about people and their culture. She also favours moment of solitude where most times give birth to her writings. The secret of life is really hidden in a book she exclaimed and that book is right there or here. She hopes that after reading her book persons will be able to identify with some of those emotions though so rawly expressed in time will begin to heal.
She holds a B.Sc. in Secondary Education and has worked for the past fourteen years with a statutory body calls the, Jamaica National Heritage Trust, where she serves in the Heritage Education Department. She is also a cultural ambassador for Jamaica Tourist Board: “Meet The People Program.” For over ten years. Verona Cooper loves the delights of nature: birds, flowers, the wind, cries of insects, running water (stream, river) rainbow, and the seasons. Her second anthology is already prepared for publication. She hopes that her other books will also be read and appreciated.view less
