    Imprisoned pickpocket Loth isn't sure why a bunch of idiots just broke into his cell claiming they’re here to rescue the lost prince of Aguillon, and he doesn’t really care. They’re looking for a redheaded prince, and he’s more than happy to play along if it means freedom. Then his cranky cellmate Grub complicates things by claiming to be the prince as well.

    Now they’re fleeing across the country and Loth’s stuck sharing a horse and a bedroll with Grub while imitating royalty, eating eel porridge, and dodging swamp monsters and bandits. 

    Along the way, Loth discovers that there’s more to Grub than meets the eye. Under the dirt and bad attitude, Grub’s not completely awful. He might even be attractive. In fact, Loth has a terrible suspicion that he’s developing feelings, and he’s not sure what to do about that. He’d probably have more luck figuring it out if people would just stop trying to kill them. 

    Still, at least they’ve got a dragon, right?

      Awesome! Your typical DnD characters on a trip. Narator is great. Just listen when you want something easy, funny and with happy ending.

      This book was hilarious and I fell in love with all the characters. Loth and Grub are the cutest and I loved the ending as it made sense and it was wholesome.

      I adored this book! Genuinely funny but with moments of real heart to go along with it, I found myself beaming the whole time and having to pause and laugh at some choice jokes. Please read if you love fantasy, and want to see a typical DnD campaign with lots of LGBT+ characters!

      It's been a long while since I've wanted to describe a book as 'bawdy', but it's the word that springs to mind for this tale. The writing is joyously gay, and crude, and funny in a naff sort of way, but cute enough to make up for it. There are a few surprisingly spicy parts, that also manage to be tender. It's a fantasy romance that is also a parade of winks and nudges re: tropes (lovable rogue, handsome pauper who's secretly a prince) and also re: shagging. It would be generic, except for all the gay sex, and honestly I'm glad it exists, because god knows I've read a lot of generic fantasy over the years that wasn't as fun or as sweet. Recommend for a relaxing listen, despite the narrator's really odd accent (if anyone does listen to it and can tell me where that guy is from, I'd be grateful).

      Almost added an extra star just for the fact that the elf in this plays a tabletop rpg called Houses & Humans.

      This was so fun, and got better as the story went on. Also, the narration was excellent, lots of great voices! Fantastic job by Nick J Russo.

      The story started a bit simple, your typical "I'm a selfish yet funny asshat" personality. It was obvious where the story was going. But Henry and Honey do a good job of balancing the predictability with humour, it's not too heavy handed on either, and it's fun to just sit back with this story. The supporting cast is great and I look forward to more of this book.

      Genuinely hilarious! The kind of story that you dread the end of because you don’t want it to be over. And the narrator killed it! His voice is never flat, he does great voices, and he doesn’t over enunciate which is a pet peeve of mine.

      Laugh out loud story! An orc, an elf, a dwarf and an idiot rescue an imprisoned prince. But there are 2 of them, so they grab both. What could possibly go wrong? At least they have a dragon...I read the book and absolutely loved it, but Nick J Russo's narration made me fall in love with it even more. He had the best voices for the characters. This is one I can listen to again and again.
