About this audiobook
The alien forces known as the Lankies are gathering on the solar system’s edge, consolidating their conquest of Mars and setting their sights on Earth. The far-off colony of New Svalbard, cut off from the rest of the galaxy by the Lanky blockade, teeters on the verge of starvation and collapse. The forces of the two Earth alliances have won minor skirmishes but are in danger of losing the war. For battle-weary staff sergeant Andrew Grayson and the ragged forces of the North American Commonwealth, the fight for survival is entering a catastrophic new phase.
Forging an uneasy alliance with their Sino-Russian enemies, the NAC launches a hybrid task force on a long shot: a stealth mission to breach the Lanky blockade and reestablish supply lines with Earth. Plunging into combat against a merciless alien species that outguns, outmaneuvers, and outfights them at every turn, Andrew and his fellow troopers could end up cornered on their home turf, with no way out and no hope for reinforcement. And this time, the struggle for humanity’s future can only end in either victory or annihilation.

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be an awesome listen with great narration. The series of books is very good and the action is continuous. The characters are well defined and the reader helps to keep the excitement going. Some reviewers loved the series, comparing it to their favorite book, while others found it to be a solid addition to the overarching series. There is also a mention of the story emphasizing the difficulty of making the right choices. Overall, it is considered a great read, especially for those with previous military service.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Did like the moon arc but hated how they didn't reveal their achievement when they came back (Would had bolsterd humanities morale).Still a semi-soild book that fits into the overarching series.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5GR8 read, especially to those of previous military service! Kudos!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love this series so far. The action is continuous and the charters are well defined.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Series is getting stale. I’m moving on to something else.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Good continuation of the series, with several possibilities opened for future installments.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5In my seventy years Starship Troopers was always my favorite book. I love this series almost as much. It is well written and the reader helps to keep the excitement going for the entire read.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Awesome listen. Like the narration. Very good series of books
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It is never easy to know what the right thing is. no matter how hard we try, we sometimes make mistakes. this story emphasizes that. good read
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I'm really not one for riding no review but so far I'm really enjoying this book and I'm really enjoying the reader I like the fact that there's inflection in his voice and his voice is not hype it's not squeaky it's just down the Earth real so if there's any way that the reader can hear the fact that I'm really enjoying him nom nom I really appreciate that I really appreciate the book so far
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great read!!! One of the better SF writer now living
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5After reading book two I jumped right into the third book. I can't seem to read this series fast enough. I am deeply invested mainly because I love the characters. To my surprise, I am also enjoying the political intrigue in this installment. I feel this is because some of the actions of the characters touches close to home. Excited to see what awaits us in book four.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Frontlines series has generated a familiar set of characters. Our here is Andrew Grayson, a Staff Sergeant combat controller and his associates. Intramural human conflict impedes attack by interstellar threat--Lankies. This is third book of the Frontlines series. Its a fun SciFi read. Somewhat confusing is the cross section of US military people and gear--example: a Colonel in charge of a space "ship" and weapons categorized in a fictional way. Generally this is a good book continuing the Frontlines story--I'll try #4.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Keeping in mind the modest agenda that Kloos had starting out for this series this installment feels a little bit weak. While the gears are going to dramatically shift in where this epic is going the the relentlessly worms-eye view of the series tells against this book, as one wishes that one had a better sense of what the perspective is from the commanding heights of the society Kloos depicts.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Valiant sacrifices, some small victories over the aliens and a return to earth. Cpl Jackson reappears in a new role and a resurgence of effort continues. Lots of room left for some good adventures and I am looking forward to them.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Excellent addition to the series.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I liked it almost as much as book 2 which I liked almost as much as book 1. This one has the most "moralizing" in it of the 3, but I think Kloos still managed to not be overly annoying as he made his social commentary point. Do I think the world would stay at war (even for only 5 years) among the different human factions when the entire race is being destroyed by alien forces... no, I don't. This required a suspension of disbelief -in a sci-fi novel no less - that I think was a bit of a stretch. But, essentially, if you liked books 1-2, you should like this one just as much. It's the same tone and characterization, and pretty much the same activities (guy goes to war, stuff blows up, guy comes home). Set in space. And no cliff hanger, but there is room for more books with these characters, in this world.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This is third book of the Frontlines series. Its a fun summer read. Its the story of how the refugeesin the Foralhaut B system made peace with their former enemies to fight against the unstoppable aliens known as Lanky's. The story kept my attention the action comes at a fast pace yet it does not sacrifice character development. It does suffer from weaknesses that other military science books suffer from. You would think if the world was in peril the writer would tell what was happening all over the planet not just North America. Or that aliens capable of making spaceships and putting Earth on her knees would have equally dangerous ground combat weapons, not just big bodies and strong arms. That said Kloos does leave the reader wanting more. in the next book of the series hopefully we will get an idea of where the Earth fleet ran off to, and learn more about the Lanky other than they look like dinosaurs fly spaceships and want to kill human civilization.
