About this audiobook

Enter the dark, magical world of the House of Night series by bestselling authors P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast, a world very much like our own, except here vampyres have always existed.

One minute, sixteen-year-old Zoey Redbird is a normal teenager dealing with everyday high school stress: her cute boyfriend Heath, the school's star quarterback who suddenly seems more interested in partying than playing ball; her nosy frenemy Kayla, who's way too concerned with how things are going with Heath; her uber-tough geometry test tomorrow.

The next, she's Marked as a fledgling vampyre, forcing her to leave her ordinary life behind and join the House of Night, a boarding school where she will train to become an adult vampyre. That is, if she makes it through the Change—and not all of those who are Marked do.

It sucks to begin a new life, especially away from her friends, and on top of that, Zoey is no average fledgling. She has been chosen as special by the vampyre Goddess, Nyx. Zoey discovers she has amazing powers, but along with her powers come bloodlust and an unfortunate ability to Imprint with Heath, who just doesn't know how to take "no" for an answer. To add to her stress, she is not the only fledgling at the House of Night with special powers: when she discovers that the leader of the Dark Daughters, the school's most elite group, is misusing her Goddess-given gifts, Zoey must look deep within herself for the courage to embrace her destiny—with a little help from her new vampyre friends.

It was an entertaining read. Keeping in mind it’s intended audience, I felt the story was intriguing and the pace was consistent. The characters were a bit flat to me. Very cookie cutter, I felt no connection, remorse, happiness, just a whole lot of nothing. Don’t know if I’ll finish the series, it was an ok read just not enough for me to want to see where the story goes.

My favourite book series, I'm so glad to have found an audiobook version, been hunting for years! The narrator is good, the only thing is her character voices are quite similar to each other. I can live with it because I already have their voices in my head from reading the books years ago, but as a first time it could be kind of annoying. She does a great Zoey though!

The books are just in my taste ? Love all o them and was really looking forward to be able to listening to the stories about Zoe Redbird BUT I just can’t!!! The narrator is awful, her voice and interpretations doo not match how I interpret the storyline and voices of the characters.
The book get 5/5 but the drags it down to 3/5 just because I can’t finish listening to the books ?

Still love the story and the characters as much as I did when I read it way back in 2007. My only gripe (and hence the 5th star missing) is the narrator. I'm sorry I don't usually go negative on stuff like this but there was one thing that drove me bonkers - almost all of the sentences finished like there was a question mark at the end. I even had to google to see if there's a word for it because it annoyed me so much - "upspeak". Her voice was lovely though, and the character voices were great (except Stevie Rae's accent was a little weird) just please please please minimise the upspeak if you are doing the narration for Betrayed and all the rest too.. To Kristin and PC: when I first read these in my 20s I loved them, now in my 40s I still love them. The story is timeless and I'm sure I will still adore it when I'm in my 60s.

Bon très bon roman. La lecture est faite avec expression ce qui permet de conserver l’attention de la personne qui en est à l’écoute.

I joined this to listen to this set of books only. But I can not handle the person reading them. And it doesn't give you other options for people. Super disappointed. Will be unsubscribing.

I've wanted to read the series for a while but my busy schedule makes it hard to find the time. I was able to listen to the audiobook without any problem and I think Ms Davies did a great job narrating.

This is my favorite book series! I didn’t care much for the narrator though. She had a cadence that reminded me of, well, Forrest Gump if I’m being honest. She was also kind of monotone? I just don’t think this narrator was the right choice for the book. Great book though, and I made it through to the end because I love the series, but I won’t listen to the rest if it’s this narrator.
