RISING TO THE OCCASION
As the novel coronavirus spread across the globe, the idea of casually getting together with friends and family for a meal, or popping out to the market or a café, has changed. But we’ve faced this challenge with creativity and compassion…and yeast. Lots and lots of yeast, and flour. Seriously, the flour mills and yeast makers can barely keep up! We’ve been baking in record numbers, and from breads to cookies and every sweet or savoury thing in between, we’ve been giving it away too. With porch-drop deliveries and cookie exchanges, Canadians made sure our neighbours had enough to eat and knew they weren’t forgotten. Nothing says “Thinking of you!” like something fresh from the oven or garden. Speaking of which, we’re also growing our own with the determination of Victory Gardeners of the past.
