The DFG’s annual report provides a comprehensive, approximately 350-page overview of the organisation’s news and funding activities. It illustrates the variety of DFG-funded research and infrastructure by showcasing examples from the more than 31,750 projects which received over €3.9 billion in funding in 2023. The 2023 report also provides information on focal areas of DFG funding activities and the organisation’s standpoints and actions regarding questions relating to the academic research system and research policy. For 2023, the focus of journalistic contributions was on the topic of “scientific diversity”. A detailed statistics section presents the most important facts and figures with regard to DFG funding activities.
The 2023 annual report clearly shows that a well-functioning self-governing research system is based on the involvement and dedication of many people, such as reviewers, committee members and Head Office staff.
