Fall Home Tours
Are you ready for some beautiful fall home decor inspiration? This week I’m participating in a fun fall home tour hop with 30 talented blogging friends. Each day this week, 6 bloggers will be opening up their homes and showing you their favorite fall decor ideas. I love seeing all of the different decor styles and decorating tips that are shared, so I hope you get a chance to check them out. You can find everyone participating at the end of the post.
Before we get started I would like to take a minute to thank Marty from A Stroll Thru Life for putting these seasonal tours together each year. This season’s tour is extra special because Marty recently lost her husband to Covid-19 in addition to battling the illness herself. We will all be thinking of her and her family throughout these tours and are sending her lots of love and prayers.
If you’re new here or coming over from Decor To Adore – welcome! I’m so glad to have you here and hope you enjoy the tour. Grab an apple cider and come on in!
Neutral Fall Dining Room Decor
If you haven’t guessed already, today I’ll be sharing our fall dining room decor with you. Our dining room is the first room that you see when you’re standing in our front entry way so I always like to deck it out for the different seasons. I think it’s probably my favorite room to decorate!
As we tour through our dining room, I thought I’d share some fall decorating tips with you. These ideas can be applied to any room. Not just the dining room! Even just a few little touches can make a big impact, so don’t feel overwhelmed. It can be a lot of fun coming up with ideas and adding a little fall coziness to your home!
Choose a color scheme.
I’m always torn between the pretty netural fall decor and the more traditional fall colors. So this year, I did a little of both! I used the more traditional colors in our kitchen and living room but decided to keep our dining room more neutral. I do love the more muted fall colors and they go so well with metallics like gold or copper.
If you’re having trouble choosing a color scheme, it can be helpful to choose an inspiration piece to pull colors from. It could be a piece of artwork, a throw pillow, a particular decor piece you like or anything else that you’re drawn to. I found this Pumpkin Spice Latte sign at Michales and loved the soft muted colors.
Get inspired by nature.
Fall is one of the prettiest times of the year. So take advantage of all of the inspiration that nature has to offer! I used a variety of nature-inspired elements in the room including wheat, acorns, corn husks, and pine cones. You can also find a lot of realistic faux options too. Fall stems, pumpkins, and gourds all come in a variety of colors that would go with any fall color scheme.
Create a fall centerpiece.
Dress up your dining room table with a pretty fall centerpiece. It doesn’t have to be anything too elaborate and sometimes the simpler ones end up being my favorite. Shop your home for a large bowl or basket that you could fill with pumpkins or faux stems. Or gather a cutting board or tray to use as a base I shared my simple step by step process that I used for putting together this nature inspired fall centerpiece HERE.
Use printables.
Printables are one of the easiest ways to switch up your holiday decor and you can find many free fall printables to download online. I created these Scandinavian style fall printables to use in our dining room this year to work with our color scheme. If you like to use printables for the different seasons, just keep all of the prints in one frame and swap them around as the seasons change.
Put together a beverage bar.
A beverage bar is a fun way to enjoy all of those delicious tastes of fall. A couple of weeks ago, I shared our hot beverage bar that I set up on our sideboard. It’s filled with hot chocolate, fall-flavored teas, and some fall syrups that I add to frothed steamed milk. I don’t drink coffee, but you could totally make a coffee bar too.
You can grab the free fall beverage labels and hot beverage bar printables on this post.
I also put together a cute apple cider bar in the other corner of the room. I love apple cider and look forward to it every year.
While we obviously don’t have it filled with apple cider on a regular basis, I do often fill it with water and infuse cinnamon and apples in it. And some dried apples and caramels always go well with anything!
Turn on the glow.
Adding some lights or candles to your dining room is the perfect way to create a warm, cozy atmosphere. Personally, I like to mix in twinkle lights anywhere I can. lol! I used some on our centerpiece, our hot beverage bar, and as a garland above our hutch. It looks so pretty at night!
Look for lights that have an automatic on/off switch so you don’t have to remember to turn them on and off each day. I set mine to come on just as the sun is going down so there’s always a pretty glow.
I also have a couple of lighted Christmas trees that I’ve kept out on our sideboard. To make them look a little more fall-like, I added some faux fall leaves to it. I think it’s my favorite thing in the room. The leaves take on such a pretty, warm glow!
Thank-you so much for touring around with me today! I hope you enjoyed our fall dining room decor. If you’d like to keep in touch, subscribe to my emails over on the side bar or look for me here…

Jenn Lifford says
Thanks so much! I actually bought the light fixture almost 20 years at a local lighting store. Sorry!
Jennifer says
HI Jenn! This is my first visit to your site to check out your fall decor. I really enjoyed touring your home-getting a peek at your interpretation of Fall.I loved your use of color and neutrals. It seems like so many bloggers are going totally neutral for Fall-which looks beautiful, but I must be a more traditionalist when it comes to my favorite season. I live in Texas where there is very minimal changing of color on the trees. It’s green in spring and summer and them the leaves fall without much color changing. I think that’s why I love the browns and golds, muted oranges, yellows and greens.I feel like my decorating over the years has become more curated-when my kids were younger, they wanted me to use every single thing to decorate. This year I narrowed down what I really wanted to use and donated 4 bins of extra stuff I will no longer be using. Thank you for sharing your home and inspiration!
Jenn Lifford says
Thanks so much! It always feels good to declutter extra seasonal decor and really narrow it down to what you really love. I love all of the fall colors too. Hope you have fun decorating and have a wonderful fall!
