Pink Sweet Pea Chintz, British Wedding Cake, FREE BATES T shirt drawing

Hello my lovelies. It's time for posting with Beverley for her Pink Saturday post.  Today we are actually sunny...albeit only 34 degrees, after a night in the teens and about 1/2 inch of snow. I know, I know, for most of you that's not worth counting! But for us on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington state it's a big deal! We used to live at 5,000 ft and got over 200 inches a season, so I LOVE this!!!!

But the sun today has me thinking about the coming spring, so I have a pink Sweet Pea chintz cup and saucer with matching plate for my pink made by Royal Standard, England in the 1950s that I just love.

Isn't that the hope of spring personified???? For more info on the teacup trio on Antiques And Teacups, just click on the photos.

And din't we all love the wedding of Matthew and Mary on the Downton Abbey series 3 premiere? I found a PBS blog that gives an Edwardian recipe for a wedding cake, which in England are usually a form of fruit cake. Will and Kate had one as well.

Fiona Cairns made William and Kate's confection, and shared a recipe she thinks is similar to Downton Abbey's tribute as well as William and Kate's cake. For the Royal Wedding Fruit Cake recipe, which is a bit involved, click the fruit cake photo above,  for an ABC news article.

See the video for William and Kate's Royal Wedding cake below as well:

Video from the 2011 wedding of William and Catherine about their cake which, because it's ABC News, has an ad in front. But a neat video.
