The development of digital tabletops that support user identification has opened the door for investigating users’ achievement in groupware based face-to-face Computer Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) settings. When students collaborate around the tabletop, teachers need to be aware of the steps undertaken by the students in order to reflect their achievements.We focused on exploring patterns of interaction between students and the objects of an educational application called ‘Digital Mysteries’, used as a basis for distinguishing the work of higher achieving groups from lower achieving ones. Teachers’ analysis of trial videos were informative in analysing data which aimed at automatically generating visualization log based dataset that reflect on students’ achievements. Our approach on users’ assessment, based on the interaction patterns in co-located CSCL setting, can be generalised to cover other collaborative application domains. The usefulness of such patterns can be applied in new designs of collaborative applications.

Scaliness of psoriasis lesions is one of the parameters to be determined during Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) scoring. Dermatologists typically use their visual and tactile senses to assess PASI scaliness. However, it is known that the scores are subjective resulting in inter-and intra-rater variability. In this paper, an objective 3D imaging method is proposed to assess PASI scaliness parameter of psoriasis lesions. As scales on the lesion invariably causes roughness, a surface-roughness measurement method is proposed for 3D curved surfaces. The method applies a polynomial surface fitting to the lesion surface to extract the estimated waviness from the actual lesion surface. Surface roughness is measured from the vertical deviations of the lesion surface from the estimated waviness surface. The surface roughness algorithm has been validated against 328 lesion models of known roughness on a medical mannequin. The proposed algorithm is found to have an error 0.0013 ± 0.0022 mm giving an accuracy of 89.30%. The algorithm is invariant to rotation of the measured surface. Accuracy of the rotated lesion models is found to be greater than 95%. System repeatability has been evaluated to successive measurements of 456 psoriasis lesions. The system repeatability can be accepted since 95.27% of the measurement differences are less than two standard deviation of measurement difference.

It has long been known that museum education has the ability to motivate and excite visitors whilst providing them with new insights and experiences. Nevertheless, activities that learning goal, for example, visiting a museum is found to disinterest, not appealing and give insignificant impact to children as compared to visiting the amusement park, playground, or even zoo. Thus, museums are increasingly being equipped with digital and mobile technologies. The main goal of using technologies is to improve the museum-going experience for visitors. In this research, we present a study of a museum interactive quest based on the proposed interaction design model. The study involves children in the age of 9 to 11 to visit a museum located in Malaysia. The findings from the study have highlighted the potential of the proposed interaction model that has affected the children enjoyment and engagement during the museum visit.

The visual of an underwater images sometimes does not representing the real world objects. Light absorption and diffusion somehow degrade the clarity of the images. In order to improve visualization of underwater images, an approach using color correction based on histogram is used. The reason why this approach is used is simply because it improves contrast by redistributing intensity distributions and computes a uniform histogram. Histogram in Photoshop is a graph that shows the digital image balance and also placement of the pixels in an image. A few examples are shown in this paper.

This study develops a questionnaire that can be used to measure user acceptance of web user interface (UI), particularly web object locations. It explored ASEAN users’ expectations based on constructs in Expectation-Confirmation Theory (ECT). There were eight constructs, namely Expectation (E), Perceived Usefulness (PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEU), Perceived Performance (PP), Confirmation (C), Satisfaction (S), Continuance Intention (CI), and Interface Quality (IQ). A total of 160 respondents from the ASEAN community were surveyed for their acceptance of web-based prototype. The results provide an exploratory factor analysis of the model, demonstrate satisfactory reliable and valid scales of the model constructs, and suggest further analysis to confirm the model as a valuable tool to evaluate the user acceptance towards informational website.
