History of Library Science in Azerbaijan

In this article, using a brief historical excursion investigated the role of library science in Azerbaijan, which it played in the development of Azerbaijani culture and library science, past a rich path of development in the period from 2003 to 2008, covered by the special care of the state, received the historical experience and which entered into the information society, was the development of the cultural and intellectual potential of the nation.

This article is devoted to the scientific, educational and social life and activities of my Teacher with the orders of "Shohrat" (Glory) and "Sharaf" (Honor), Doctor of Historical Sciences, Honored Worker of Science and Culture, Academician of the International Informatization Academy at the United Nations, Honorary professor of the Baku State University, the Founder of Library Science in Azerbaijan, professor Abuzar Aly oglu Khalafov (1931-2020).

In this article, using a brief historical excursion investigated the place and role of the discipline “History of librarianship in Azerbaijan” in the system of library science. Including here considered, spoken and analyzed the subject, importance, and source of the course “History of librarianship in Azerbaijan”, which past a rich path of development, and entered into the information society.
