moreEmerged throughout the 2000s in the United States and Brazil, studies on the life and work of Cassandra Rios present analysis that scope the legacy of the writer to Brazilian LGBTQ+ literature and community, in search of making her distant from the labels which were attributed to her during her life, such as immoral and pornographer, which earned her persecution, moral censorship and intellectual ostracism. Departing from the latest
contributions of cassandrian studies, the following article intends to analyze two LGBTQ+ coming of age novels written by her: Georgette, from 1956; and Eu Sou Uma Lésbica, from 1980. The two novels, which respectively depict a transgender and a lesbian protagonist, put
great emphasis within the first sexual experiences of both characters. We intend to analyze the relation that the novels present between sexual practices that Paul B Preciado would name as countersexual and their influence on the formation of trans and lesbian subjectivities, as well
as the construction of a subversive discourse on heteronormative sexual practices.
