moreThis research deals with Excubation as a new model of Corporate Entrepreneurship, a field of Corporate Innovation that has gained in popularity among firms from all sectors
and countries. While a lot of research has been carried out on the cardinal programmes of Corporate Entrepreneurship – Incubation and Acceleration – Excubation is yet to be fully integrated into modern innovation science. The aim of the present thesis, written in
cooperation with the consultancy firm Excubate, is to shed light on this approach and to
assess its ability to overcome today’s main barriers of Corporate Innovation. In order to
achieve the named objectives, a list of these barriers has been created and then juxtaposed with the Seven Rules of the Excubation programme. A framework was created to evaluate the programme’s ability to overcome the individual barriers. The analysis shows that Excubation addresses each barrier with at least two rules, and has the strong ability to overcome the following three barriers: “Lack of time”, “Lack of qualified staff” and “Overlong development times”. Only one barrier cannot be sufficiently overcome: “Too many ongoing projects in other departments”. The study reveals Excubation’s greatest strengths: the efficient development of innovations and the building of innovation capabilities. Based on the results of this research it can be concluded that Excubation has the potential of establishing itself as one of the leading programmes of Corporate Entrepreneurship.
