Rezumat Rădăcinile prezentului. Teatrul Liric din Chişinău La 6 august 1918, în capitala Basarabiei a avut loc primul spectacol de operă, "Faust" de Ch. Gounod. Prin cântăreții, dirijorii din acea perioadă s-au transmis "secrete" ale teatrului muzical, valabile şi pentru artiştii de azi. Ne-am referit, în special, la interpreții autohtoni, încercând să demonstrăm existența unei verigi între artiştii de ieri şi de azi. Spre exemplu tenorul G. Borelli, interpret al rolului titular din opera "Faust", a fost şi pedagog de canto al unor cunoscuți solişti ai Teatrului de Operă şi Balet din anii '60, iar reputatul tenor de azi, M. Muntean, a fost elevul unui alt mare tenor, N. Diducencu, care şi-a făcut studiile în clasa de canto a legendarei L. Lipcovscaia. Am urmărit şi alte exemple din domeniul vocalului. Ne-am propus şi o trecere în revistă a activității regizorilor cu începere de la I. Gorschi, de la Opera Basarabeană, şi terminând cu directorii de scenă din zilele noastre. Am încercat să-i amintim şi pe dirijorii de operă, constatând că primul a fost M. Bârcă, iar pe A. Samoilă considerându-l unul dintre cei mai profesionişti conducători de orchestră pe care i-a avut vreodată Teatrul Liric din Chişinău. Am remarcat, totodată, şi aportul pe care l-au adus la dezvoltarea teatrului din Chişinău şi artiştii invitați special pentru anumite spectacole.

Having a long tradition among the Romanian mass-media, the childrenřs magazines had an important role in educating and shaping the readersř character, believes and behavior. The influence of the press was due to the high confidence with which those magazines were credited. Children's magazines have followed the general trend of the press, representing a reflection of the national policies. If until August 1944, the magazines dedicated to children had mostly an educational and entertaining role, after this date they were used as a manipulation and propaganda tool. From this point of view, an interesting period is that of the early years of communism, when we can notice the coexistence of the two roles Ŕ educational and political. The aim of our study is to describe the evolution of Jurnalul copiilor (The Childrenřs Journal), to highlight its particularities, and to reveal the most important topics.

Mircea Eliade’s Interwar American Project: In his first year spent in India, 1929, Mircea Eliade nurtured two projects related to America, which remained unaccomplished. On the one hand, he was planning a long return trip to his homeland, which would pass through the United States. On the other hand, he considered obtaining a teaching position in an American university, the first target being Harvard. This early American project – hitherto unexplored – becomes symbolic in the perspective of Eliade’s subsequent evolution and choices. Decades later, as a professor at the University of Chicago, he turned down an invitation to occupy a chair at Harvard, which offered him far better conditions and opportunities than those in Chicago. We present here the first results of an ongoing research that tries to clarify all the details related to the young Eliade’s American project.

Despite the last decades' growing interest in discussing Cicero's philosophical works there is still no consensus among scholars regarding the purposes these works were written for. In this article, by focusing on some fragments from works like the ‚Hortensius‛ and ‚Consolatio‛, I will try to offer new grounds for reading and interpreting Cicero not only as a philosopher of public and political affairs, as he is usually seen by modern scholars, but also as a philosopher of the theoretical life.

Ion Pop's most recent book, Cărţi la alegere with its subtitle Poeţi şi poezie (Tracus Arte Publishing, 2020) represents more than the title makes is believe, more than what the poet himself says. The book brings together the literary reviews published by Ion Pop in different cultural magazines between 2000 and 2019, exposing before the readers a series of "fragmented readings" dependant to a great extent on the editorial context of these years. The critic, an "active spectator" of the Romanian literary scene, admits his inappetence for the often confusing image of the backstage, of biased manoeuvres, movements and image strategies, preferring, as he writes in the Foreword, to be left "alone with the texts and texts alone". On the other hand, one cannot ignore the ambition of his thesis, as Ion Pop confesses his "secret impulse of fitting a mosaic piece of these types of glosses in a more comprehensive assembly", capable of highlighting the "figure in the carpet" "calling to unity the capillaries of the entire organism".

Culegerea de articole reprezintă materialele celei de-a 2-a ediții a Conferinței Internaționale "Lectura ca bază pentru cultură, cunoaștere și dezvoltare", organizată de Biblioteca Națională a Republicii Moldova în septembrie 2020. Temele abordate de către autori sunt de ordin teoretic cât și practic. Volumul al II lea reprezintă diferite abordări ale fenomenului lecturii.
