This study was carried out to determine relationship of palmar dermatoglyphics with the incidence of Hypertension, especially the essential variety. Digital & palmar dermatoglyphic analysis of 145 normotensive subjects & 131hypertensive subjects was performed. The parameters used were digital ridge pattern, total ridge count & atd angle. The result showed that the double loop whorl patterns are present with higher frequency in hypertensives. Total ridge count is significantly higher in hypertensive population (p<0.05). The palm angle (atd angle) has increased value in hypertensive individuals (p<0.05). By this study association of specific dermatoglyphic parameters with the disease mentioned can be established.

The present study was conducted in the department of Anatomy Government Medical College and hospital Nagpur on hypertensive patients to determine the predominant dermatoglyphic marker for hypertension .One hundred patients and one hundred normal individuals were included in this study and rolled prints were taken from all the digits and palm prints was taken and stored on a proforma. In the present study the cases of hypertension show increased percentage of whorl pattern on first digit, second, third and fourth digits in both sex. In case of fifth finger the whorl patterns are same in percentage in both sexes of hypertensive patient and control group. The decrease in the percentage of loops there is an increased percentage of arches there are significant differences in the mean values of AFRC and TFRC in hypertensive patient as compared to controls groups. There is an increase in the mean value of Main Line Index. Overall ‘atd’ angle shows decrease in mean value in hypertensive pat...

Background: In present study, we tried to determine significant palmar dermatoglyphic parameters in case of essential hypertensive's in age group between 20-50 years and whether the parameters can be used for screening purpose i.e., early detection of hypertension. Method: With the use of modified Purvis Smith method, Black duplicating ink (Kores, Bombay) was smeared on both hands one by one and prints will be taken by rolling the hands from wrist creases to finger tips on the roller covered with bond paper. While crystal bond paper, applied firmly over a wooden pad, was used for recording the inked epidermal ridge patterns. Rolled finger prints were recorded after applying uniform pressure on white bond paper from ulnar to radial side. Complete palm impression, including the hollow or the palm was obtained over paper. Thus one set of finger prints and palm prints was obtained. The prints obtained were immediately examined with hand-lens. Result: Right hand and left hand of the both male and female study group showed more number of arches than controls. Right hand and left hand of the both male and female study group showed more number of Radial loops than controls. The right hand and left hand of both male and female control group showed more number of ulnar loops than study group. The right hand and left hand of the male control group showed more number of Whorls than study, while in females, the right hand study group showed more number of whorls than control group and the left hand study group showed less number of Whorls as compared to control group. Conclusion: The present study indicates that there are some genetic factors which are involved in the causation of essential hypertension and it is possible to certain extent to predict from dermatoglyphics individual's chance of acquiring essential hypertension. Like clinical history, examination and investigations, the dermatoglyphics will play an important role revealing the genetic susceptibility to essential hypertension.

Hereditary factor plays a major role in the aetiopathogenesis of essential hypertension. Aging and positive family history increase the risk of hypertension. Development of dermatoglyphic patterns are regulated by genetic factors. So, in this study, we made an attempt to study the co-relation between palmar, digital dermatoglyphic patterns in essential hypertensive patients and normal persons in the Puducherry population. 50 patients with essential hypertension who were attending medicine OPD & 50 healthy volunteer controls were taken for the study under the age group of 30-60years. Digital and palmar dermatoglyphic impressions of both hands in cases and controls were taken using the modified Purvis Smith method along with their complete personal details for further analysis. The documents were analyzed using a hand lens for fingertip pattern, “atd” angle, and Sydney(S) line. The study results were found to have significantly increased (p=0.018) in loop patterns in (R) hand and insi...

Background: In current study, we attempted to direct significant palmar dermatoglyphic restricts if there should be an occurrence of hypertension hypertensive's in age group among 20-50 years and whether the cutoff points can be utilized for broadcast reason. Materials and Methods: Along with the utilization of modified Purvis Smith strategy, Black copying ink (Kores, Bombay) was grimy on similarly pointers individually and plans will be involved by advancing the hands since wrist creases to fingertips on the breaker covered with the bond paper. In spite of the fact that crystal bond paper, applied unfalteringly over a wood cushion, has been utilized for recording the inked epidermal edge plans. Rolled finger desing has been created in the wake of applying consistent greatness on white bond paper since ulnar to radial side. Entire palm imprint, alongside the reverberating or the accolade was found over paper. Subsequently, one bunch of fingerprints and palm prints was acquired. The prints discovered were straightforwardly assessed with hand-focal point. Results: Right hand and left hand of the together male and female examination bunch demonstrated extra number of curves than controls. Right hand and left hand of the together male and female investigation group demonstrated extra number of Circular loops than controls. The right hand and left hand of together male and female controller bunch introduced extra number of ulnar loops as opposed to study cluster. The right hand and left hand of the male controller group introduced more number of Whorl instead of study, however in females, the right hand study bunch introduced additional amount of whorl than regulator bunch and the left hand study bunch introduced less amount of Whorl as related to regulator group. Conclusion: The current study shows that there are some hereditary variables which are engaged with the causation of essential hypertension and it is conceivable to certain degree to foresee from dermatoglyphics person's possibility of securing basic hypertension. Like clinical history, assessment and examinations, the dermatoglyphics will assume a significant job uncovering the hereditary powerlessness to essential hypertension.

The analysis of digital-palmar dermatoglyphics in a sample of individuals affected by essential hypertension In this research the digital and palmar dermatoglyphics of a sample of 97 individuals from Sardinia affected by essential hypertension were examined with the aim of identifying possible peculiarities: As already observed by other authors, the tendency towards a distal position of the axial triradius, a dermatoglyphic characteristic common in many pathologies, was also confirmed in our sample. Furthermore, some characteristics not observed in previous works which are distinctive to hypertensive subjects of both sexes are identified: a transversal tendency of the ridges and a greater asymmetry of the TRC (total ridge count). The asymmetry of the TRC is usually explained as a consequence of disturbances during embryologic development; in our case these disturbances seem to be represented by changes in arterial pressure levels originating during the prenatal period.
Dermatoglyphics is the analysis of fingerprints as a genetic marker that can be related to health, sports and disease prognosis. Since the method analyzes genetic markers, finding a pattern or rare marker for certain diseases is very important, it may be a useful tool for disease prognosis and diagnosis.
Objective: To determine the variation of Dermatoglyphics pattern in Hypertensive patients and to support the evidence of court of law regarding identification of persons. Study design: Observational Descriptive study Place and duration of study: Study was conducted at Avicenna Medical College, Lahore and data were collected from the Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Lahore from April 2012 to June 2012 Materials and methods: Finger prints were collected from the subjects after obtaining their informed consent from month of April 2012 to June 2012. A total of 100 diagnosed patients were selected from the OPD of Punjab Institute of Cardiology and data were analyzed at Avicenna Medical College Lahore. Finger prints were recorded on a plain white paper with a stamp pad by plain and rolled method and each finger print was assigned by their Name, Age, Sex, and Blood groups recorded on the Proforma. Ethical clearance and permission was obtained from the institutional Ethical Committee of Avicenna Medical College, Lahore and Medical Superintendent of Punjab Institute of Cardiology. Results: The majority of the patients were belonging to whorl pattern of finger prints i.e., Sixty seven (67%) where as the number of patients belonging to loop pattern was twenty eight (28%) and pattern of composite was five (5%) only and no any patient of arch pattern was found. Conclusion: Each fingerprint is unique hence it can be very effectively used as an evidence for identification in the court of law. Majority of the patients were belonging to whorl pattern of finger prints followed by patients belonging to Loop pattern and the least pattern was composite. Key words: Hypertension, dermatoglyphics,

Parts of the substantial mudbrick enclosure wall of the settlement on Sai Island have repeatedly been investigated in the past, beginning with Michel Azim’s excavations in the 1970s up to the recent research by the AcrossBorders project in the last years. As one of the most important results of this research the exact outline of the settlement could be established, placing the eastern enclosure wall further to the west than originally assumed. In the course of the building research undertaken in 2013 and 2014, a 3D reconstruction of the Pharaonic settlement was carried out, presenting the fortifications of the town as a very strict structure, rectangular in shape and with protruding bastions at regular distances on all four sides of the wall. Especially the most recent excavations at SAV1 West and SAV1 Northeast have, however, shown some discrepancies with this idealised reconstructed form that call for a more thorough investigation of all the evidence available for the enclosure wall. By taking a closer look at all the excavation results and also by comparing the fortifications to other sites in Nubia and Egypt, remaining open questions concerning the city wall shall be clarified, maybe resulting in a slightly differing reconstruction of the fortifications on Sai Island.
