Contemporary Southeast Asian archaeology is less than a century old. It emerged slowly from its colonial roots in the region to become a professional field, divided unequally between applied archaeology (for heritage management) and academic archaeology designed to research the past. What in the mid-twentieth century was a largely Euroamerican male profession, it has become a more diverse field, as Southeast Asia-based archaeologists continue to graduate from overseas programs and women enter the field in more significant numbers. With this growth in Southeast Asian archaeology should come more self-reflection about how we work. Yet few archaeologists have considered the role of women in Southeast Asian archaeology, despite the fact that women archaeologists co-founded the regional archaeological association, made some of the region’s most spectacular finds, published widely, and currently direct several of the longest-running research programs across the region.

This article proposes an explanation as to why institutional change – understood as more competences for the EU’s supranational institutions – has rarely led to policy change in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (AFSJ). It draws attention to the constraints that newly empowered actors have faced in the wake of introducing the co-decision procedure. If the key principles of a given AFSJ sub-policy – its ‘policy core’ – were defined before institutional change occurred, the Council (as the dominant actor of the early intergovernmental cooperation) has found it easier to prevail in the altered structural environment and to co-opt or sideline actors with competing rationales. The article compares the importance of the new decision-making procedure with two alternative pathways potentially leading to policy change, namely the power of litigation and the impact of unexpected external events.

The wireless humidity monitor is widely used in several research laboratories, hospital's store, industries for research, treatment and diagnosis of the patients, production, storing food and beverage etc. The aim of this research work is to design and development of a low cost, portable microcontroller based wireless humidity monitor. The humidity monitor has been designed using the sensor module DHT22. The sensor operates in capacitive principle i.e. changes in relative humidity (RH) of the surrounding air cause a change in dielectric constant of the polymer film leading to a change of sensor capacitance. The module converts this capacitance change into analog voltage. The DHT22 sensor provides analog voltage for both temperature and humidity. The sensor is connected with Arduino-UNO and a RF 433MHz transmitter is also connected with the Arduino-UNO. The microcontroller of Arduino-UNO converts the analog voltage into digital and the transmitter send the digital data to the receiver. There is a RF 433MHz receiver and a 16x1 Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) is also connected with another Arduino-UNO. The receiver receives the digital data and sends it to the microcontroller of Arduino-UNO and the microcontroller converts the digital data into analog data and displays the data in 16x1 LCD. The program is written in Arduino software (IDE). The accuracy, in measuring humidity, of our designed meter has been found satisfactory.

Resumen: En nuestra tesis doctoral (Torres, 2009), hemos podido observar, utilizando fuentes musicológicas, iconográficas y escritas, el paso de la guitarra popular rasgueada a la guitarra flamenca en España, y particularmente en Andalucía, desde el siglo XVI al XIX. El trabajo que proponemos a continuación se centrará en las fuentes del siglo XVII, con la popularidad de la guitarra "española" o "rasgueada" durante el Barroco, los barberos como primeros "tocaores" de este estilo, la guitarra "rasgueada" en el teatro del Siglo de Oro, el análisis de fuentes musicales italianas y francesas que dan cuenta de la popularidad del rasgueado en Europa, el estudio del repertorio rasgueado de Luis de Briceño y Gaspar Sanz, siempre desde el contraste entre fuentes musicales y escritas, para señalar los elementos que perdurarán y cristalizarán en el toque flamenco decimonónico.
