In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.
Although advent of industrialized building systems has enhanced the construction practice, Malaysian construction industry still suffers from slow speed of development and its performance has not been able to meet the targets of Malaysian plans. Previous research reveals that the machinery performance, in particular crane, is the most critical factor contributing in completion time of IBS projects. Therefore, the aim of this study is to propose a graphical mathematical model to find out the best crane location as well as supply point in order to find the minimum completion time. For this purpose, the study initially addresses the major criteria in crane performance through literature review and subsequently using the data collected through site visit, the mathematical model is developed. Then, behaviour of the model is analysed for several Demand layouts. Findings of study present considerable effects in the completion time due to variations in criteria. The model is then verified using the data of a proposed multi-storey building; the minimum completion time is found out and the optimum Demand and Supply points are determined. The study result show a great potential of IBS projects for optimizations in order to minimize the time and cost of project.

Labour productivity is one of the least studied areas within the construction industry. Productivity improvements achieve higher cost savings with minimal investment. Due to the fact that profit margins are small on construction projects, cost savings associated with productivity are crucial to becoming a successful contractor. The chief setback to improving labor productivity is measured labor productivity. The main objective of this study is to find critical factors affecting labour productivity.

Abstract The study classified individual items that function differentially according to the magnitude of DIF in dichotomous and ordinal tests and compared the power of Generalized Mantel Haenszel (GMH), Simultaneous Item Bias Test (SIBTEST), and Logistic Discriminant Function Analysis (LDFA) methods in detecting DIF in dichotomous and ordinal test items. It also determined the relationship between the proportion of test items that function differentially in dichotomous and ordinal tests when the different methods were used. These were with a view to improving the quality of dichotomous and ordinal test items construction. The study adopted a survey design. The population consisted of all undergraduate students who registered for EFC 303 (Tests and Measurement) at Obafemi Awolowo University during 2011/2012 Harmattan Semester . The sample consisted of an intact class of 457 Part 3 undergraduate students who registered for the course. Two research instruments were used to collect data. They were “Undergraduate Students’ Achievement Test” (USAT) and “Teacher Efficacy Scale” (TES). The USAT consisted of 50, four-option multiple-choice items developed by the course lecturers based on the course content. The TES was a 24-item Likert scale designed by Faleye (2008) to measure the efficacy of teachers’ activities. A total of 445 scripts were found properly completed. Data collected were analysed using Generalized Mantel Haenszel, Simultaneous Item Bias Test, and Logistic Discriminant Function Analysis. The results showed that in dichotomous test, GMH classified items 2, 5, 6, 11, and 21 as negligible DIF (A-level), items 29, 30, 40, 41, and 42 as moderate (B-level) DIF, items 44, 48, and 49 as large (C-level) DIF. Also, LDFA classified items 1, 4, 9, 10, 12, 22, 24, and 25 as negligible (A-level) DIF. Further, SIBTEST classified items 3, 7, 13, 15, and 18 as negligible (A- level) DIF, items 26, 27, 28, and 32 as moderate (B-level) DIF, and items 43, 45, and 46 as large (C-level) DIF. In contrast, for the ordinal test, the GMH classified items 3, 4, 7, 8, and 11 as negligible (A-level) DIF, items 23 and 24 as large (C-level) DIF. Further, LDFA classified items 6, 9, 10, 13, and 14 as negligible (A-level) DIF, items 20 and 21 as moderate (B-level) DIF, and item 22 as large (C-level) DIF. Similarly, SIBTEST classified items 5, 12, and 15 as negligible (A-level) DIF. The results further showed that there was a significant difference in the performance of the GMH, SIBTEST, and LDFA methods in detecting DIF in dichotomous test items (Wald χ2 (1, N = 445) = 87.80, p<.05). Also, the results showed that there was a significant difference in the performance of GMH, SIBTEST, and LDFA methods in detecting DIF in ordinal test items (Wald χ2 (1, N = 445) = 55.28, p<.05). Finally, the results showed that there was no significant relationship between the proportion of test items that functioned differentially in the dichotomous and ordinal tests when the different methods were used (χ2 = 0.98, p>0.05). The study concluded that GMH, SIBTEST and LDFA were effective in detecting DIF across dichotomous test items but complement one other in their ability to detect DIF in ordinal test items.

The History of the Great Academic Dictionary of the Russian Language" (История Большого Академического Словаря Русского Языка) is a massive monograph on Russian academic normative lexicography, starting from academician Jacob Grot's "Dictionary of the Russian Language" to the present edition of "the Great Academic Dictionary of the Russian Language" (GAD). It covers 175 years of history related to the theoretical and practical aspects of normative lexicography, pioneered by the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Institute for Linguistic Studies. The principle languages of the monograph are Russian and English. The text of Terminal Objectives is micrographically reduced to be read with a magnifying glass (included). In practice, "the History of the GAD" shall be considered as the first attempt of introducing this subject matter in English. The Monograph consists of 101 essays and treatises in Russian, English accompanied with essays in French, German and Armenian languages. More than 1,000,000 words were used to describe the subject matter in light of the latest achievements in world linguistics, lexicology and lexicography. The monograph is an introductory volume to the GAD. The entire work, as a single unit, is chronologically arranged essays, directly complementing the main subject. Each chapter can be read, used and lectured independently. Therefore, the work is formulated to appear not just as an appendix to the GAD, serving as a companion volume, but it is also composed and devised to perform as a textbook on Russian academic normative lexicography not just for Russian students of philological studies, or foreign students at Slavic Departments and russophiles likewise, but, in the interim, to play an essential role to function as a guidebook for professorial lecturers and as an illustrious Preface to the Great Academic Dictionary, as well.

Video analytics, loosely defined as autonomous understanding of events occurring in a scene. The use of deceptive techniques in user-generated video portals is ubiquitous. Unscrupulous up loaders deliberately mislabel video descriptors aiming at increasing their views and subsequently their ad revenue. This problem, usually referred to as "click-bait," may severely undermine user experience. In this work, we study the click-bait problem on YouTube by collecting metadata for 206k videos. To address it, we devise a deep learning model based on variation auto-encoders that supports the diverse modalities of data that videos include. Every click earns them display advertisement revenue. Social media users who are tricked into clicking may experience a sense of disappointment or agitation, and social media operators have been observing growing amounts of click bait on their platforms. As largest video-sharing platform on the web, YouTube, too, suffers from click bait. Thus, it is susceptible to recommending misleading videos to users.

The persuasive power of a mother's breast: the most desperate act of the Virgin Mary's Advocacy1 SALVADOR RYAN (Dept. of History, NUI, Maynooth) Depictions of the Madonna and Child, which for centuries have adorned Catholic churches and burial grounds, tend to evoke warm responses from the majority who choose to behold what appears to be an idyllic and peaceful scene. A variation of this theme, such as the portrayal of the Virgin Mary breast-feeding her Divine Son, although less common, has also claimed great popularity among iconographers from the first centuries of Christianity. However, some popular late-medieval interpretations of the latter depiction suggest that far from being a representation of a serene mother and child at one, the iconography depicts a veritable battle of wills. The mother (Mary) suckles her Son (Christ) in a desperate effort to appease His anger, thus hoping to offset the terrible judgement He plans to impose on humanity. This paper explores the effect of the Virgin Mary's breasts on Christ the Judge, as understood in European popular piety of the late medieval period, and more specifically in Ireland. In the first instance, Mary employs her breasts to feed and nourish the infant Christ, calming His anger and setting Him at peace. However, when this method fails, she chooses to employ a more radical use of her breasts in a desperate effort to attain mercy for humanity in her role as Advocate, as discussed below. It is this second method, which is treated at greatest length here. An elaborate gesture of the Virgin Mary before her Son, popularised as a motif from the twelfth century onwards, is firstly traced to its pre-Christian roots. In addition, its subsequent manifestation across Europe, which includes an appear ance in sixteenth-century Gaelic Irish bardic poetry, is explored. What results is an examination of one of the most fascinating reli gious motifs of the late medieval period.
