This paper aims to highlight the challenges faced by Iraqi EFL students in secondary schools, in Annasiriyah province. This action research was conducted by an English language teacher who has been teaching this cohort for two academic years. This researcher collected his data via survey, interviews and observations. He also used his own experiences teaching these students to elaborate the data. The analysis of the collected data showed that these students encountered some ongoing problems in their journey of studying English. Problems such as: the structural syllabus which is often used interchangeably with the grammatical one, the activities available in the structural textbooks, the English language used in the said textbook is not an action one, and the gradation of the items and structures does not depend on complexity vs. easiness.
In the 20th and 21st centuries, English has become an indispensable part of educational curriculum in Iranian schools. Despite all the efforts and investments devoted to cultivate and popularize English among Iranian language learners, the resultant outcome could not live up to the authorities' expectations. Generally speaking, the process of teaching and learning English as a foreign language in Iran is not satisfactory. A great body of research has proved that different factors are involved in this process. The researcher made an attempt to examine all the possibly existing researches which investigated/focused on the problems of teaching/learning English in Iran to elicit these factors and to scrutinize the existing problems. It is also an attempt to highlight what can be done to improve the situation significantly. A classification of these factors was suggested and it was indicated that these factors are highly interrelated.
One of the most important issues that face EFL teaching in modern Iraq is the failure of Iraqi high school graduates in using English communicatively. Teachers' preparation to teach English as a foreign language might be one of the reasons for this failure. This study investigates the difference between teaching English before and after 2003. Interviews were conducted with four Iraqi high school graduates. Two of the participants graduated before 2003 and the other two represented the modern changes applied on both the curriculum and methods of teaching English after 2003. The results of the study showed that these changes were not suitable for the unique English education environment in Iraq since English is taught as a foreign language.

The focus of this study is to explore EFL teachers' perceptions, evaluations and expectations about English language courses as EFL in Saudi tertiary level. In other words, this article aims at creating a new avenue for effective EFL teachinglearning curriculum techniques and syllabus in the Saudi tertiary context. Saudi universities offer credit and non-credit Foundation English courses as a part of their program, which are not being very effective. These courses do not promote the students in dealing with their disciplines or programs oriented courses. Even after completion of the Foundation English courses in consecutive two or three semesters, students fail to grasp comprehensive control over the reading materials of their discipline-oriented courses. This is a common scenario in almost all the universities in KSA. The author of this paper ventured to study the predicament of EFL courses in some universities through survey questionnaires, observation as well as primary and secondary sources. The data were collected through questionnaires from a total of 25 EFL teachers at renowned Saudi universities. The research results revealed that the existing Foundation English Course syllabus is not tailored appropriately to the needs of the students so far as the higher studies concerned, and EFL classroom is not conducive to task-based language teaching (TBLT) practice due to large class size (100-140). It, therefore, suggests that university Foundation English Courses should be redesigned in assimilating the learners' standard and previous learning, and course contents should cover the socio-cultural factors of the learners. The study also concludes with some effective implications and recommendations based on the findings of the present research.

Speaking is a measure of linguistic ability and a fluent speaker is considered as a skilled language learner. In Kurdistan Region of Iraq-KRI, English is taught as a foreign language from elementary to university. However, Kurdish students, even university students, have challenges with speaking English and show their attitudes to speaking as one of the complex skills in language learning. This paper revealed that most learners have personal, linguistic, social, and environmental speaking challegnes. Lack of confidence, insufficient vocabulary, reluctance, nervousness while speaking, fear of making errors, lack of an appropriate setting to practice English, and lack of instructor enthusiasm were major problems of Kurdish students. This study looked at students' speech problems and their reasons. The researchers collected data from 12 second-year students in the National Institute of Technology, in sulaimaniyah city, as an example by adopting a semi-structured interview. The data were collected and analyzed in two significant categories: difficulties and reasons, with three subgroups. The research focused on psychological, social, environmental, interpersonal, and linguistic issues as challaenges of speaking difficulty, instructor and instruction, core curriculum, misuse of mother tongue, insufficient education, and classroom culture as causes of speaking inadequacy. The researchers recommend the development of a positive atmosphere, promoting knowledge acquisition, modifying teaching approaches, and rewriting courses.

Learning new language as a Foreign Language is obviously not easy. The Foreign Language learners must find it hard to master. Therefore, there must be challenges that Foreign Language teachers face in classroom. The aim of this research is to investigate an English teacher in teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) to junior high school students at Ma'had Tahfidzul Qur'an, Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The matters to be investigated include barriers the teacher faced as well as her strategies to solve the problems. The researcher used qualitative method for this study and conducted interview for the English teacher to reveal the findings. The result of semi-structured interview showed that the biggest challenge faced by the English teacher is the condition where the students are less-motivated in learning English. Several strategies are used by the teacher such as encouraging the students through verbal motivation as well as providing joyful activities such as conducting different kind of games to build positive mood and interest of students in leaning a new language. The use of proper teaching strategies is demanded in order to have English learning become students' habit. Therefore, implication of language teaching methodologies is also discussed in this research.

For the Métis Nation in Canada, self-government remains the 'essence of the struggle' for which their political leader, Louis Riel, sacrificed his life in 1885. As one of Canada's founding peoples, the Métis have sought to reclaim their Indigenous right to self-government by establishing democratic governance bodies, enhancing their economic capacity and pursuing state recognition of their rights. In addition to these efforts, the Métis have been developing a national constitution, which is anticipated to form the basis of a government to government relationship between the Métis Nation and the Canadian state. Through a case study of the Métis, this article explores the role of contemporary constitution-building in rebuilding Indigenous nations from within and reclaiming self-government in settler societies. We conclude that the Métis Nation's pursuit of these goals through constitutionalism will depend on its ability to build legitimacy internally amongst its citizens and externally with state decision-makers.
Power line communications technology was developed after the establishment of the power distribution network, it is considered to be one of the promising means of data transfer for home networks, and is a medium of shared transmission. Our study was based on the effectiveness of the CSMA/CA method, the collision occurs when the modems transmit at the same time, the transmitters draw the same backoff (a random waiting time) after another transmission. After the backoff, the modems check, before transmitting, that the channel is free to base themselves on the detection of preamble symbols which identify a competing transmission. The proposed simulation approach is based on the estimation of the power level in the channel between the hybrid and default channel listening process. The solution is based on the transfer function used in the modeling.
