Professor Vichi sadly passed away just as this manuscript was being completed. Eduardo Vichi was the originator of the Intrazeolite Kinetics project. He suggested it to A.J.P. in Toronto in 1983 and eventually obtained funding for it through FAPESP and CNPq. He was a great scientific colleague and a warm friend, and he will be deeply missed.

Seven mycobacteriophages from distinct geographical locations were isolated, using Mycobacterium smegmatis mc2155 as the host, and then purified and sequenced. All of the genomes are related to cluster A mycobacteriophages, BobSwaget and Lokk in subcluster A2; Fred313, KADY, Stagni, and StepMih in subcluster A3; and MyraDee in subcluster A18, the first phage to be assigned to that subcluster.

2 Drobner, "Studying Augustine." 3 Is it possible that Augustine becomes the focus of reading and study in a special way at times of significant cultural adaptation and change? Such an hypothesis would tend to receive an affirmative response insofar as Augustine's approach to life in the world is a constant questioning where the answers are not a way of bringing the conversation to a conclusion but a way of reaching-again and again-for the mystery who is God. See Charles T. Mathewes, "The Liberation of Questioning in Augustine's Confessions,"

This paper examines the determinants and processes of cross-border migration of ECOWAS citizens into Nigeria. Data were gotten using open and close ended questionnaire surveys which were administered on 462 ECOWAS migrants based on chain referral approach and were analysed by descriptive analysis, mapping and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). Descriptive analysis revealed that 66.02% of them were males while 33.98% were females. Mapping of migration flows showed that in theperiod under study (before 1984 to 2017), the highest migration flows were from the nearby countries of Benin, Togo and Niger which ranged from 9.31% to 30.30% for Benin and Togo and from 7.11% to 9.30% for Niger. However, in 1984 and earlier, there were more migrants from Ghana (21.22% to 45.45%) than any other country in the region. The PCA extracted a total of7 components from 18 variables and these 7 components accounted for 70.037% of the total variance. Socio-political factor with an eigen value of14.358 was discovered to be the most significant factor of the migration. Other factors of cross-border migration included inadequate infrastructure and public services, economic, ethno-cultural ties and family and social connections. Based on the findings, recommendations were made, such as curbing illegal migration and selective migration policy in Nigeria; providing adequate infrastructure and improving agriculture and economy of origin countries; and conflict prevention in the ECOWAS region.

Brain development continues throughout childhood and requires micronutrients for optimal maturation, but studies have typically examined only a limited number of micronutrients and there has been inconsistent use of validated cognitive measures. This study evaluated the impact of providing low-income children with a daily fortified meal (570 kcal) in the form of a bar and shake containing >75% of the FDA Daily Values for all essential vitamins and minerals, as well as macronutrients (e.g., omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and protein), in an afterschool care setting (instead of the usual meal provided) on cognitive functioning. Students aged 8–12 were randomly assigned to intervention (n = 19) or control (n = 16) meals. Students completed the Stroop Color Word Task, Trail Making Test, and Conner’s Continuous Performance Task (CPT) at baseline and 3 months post-intervention. Differences in cognitive scores were examined using 2 × 2 mixed model ANOVAs (Stroop and CPT) and ANCOVAs (T...

Augustinian thoughts have been widely revered for their great influence on the development of Western philosophy. While most of St. Augustine's ideas were adapted in various fields of modern thought, his ideas on education have been rarely discussed. In reality, one should recognize that St. Augustine, being one of the greatest teachers of the church and a towering figure in all ages of Western philosophy, had implicitly detailed in his works and portrayed in his colorful life important ideas of teaching on education. Although this may be open for arguments and debate, this study set out to examine Augustinian ideas on education. This study used theoretical and qualitative research and employed content analysis. It must be noted, though, that this study presents analysis of Augustinian philosophy based only on the subject of educational pedagogy supported by relational analysis with critical pedagogy. Significantly, this study sought credible evidence from St. Augustine's works that may reveal the presence of relation of his teachings on education to critical pedagogy. Through content analysis, this study concludes that although St. Augustine did not write a book on education, Augustinian thoughts contain a clear pedagogy on education, and some of his teachings point toward the same directions wherein critical pedagogy is situated with regard to its theoretical positions.. First and foremost, I would like to thank my Lord and my Savior Jesus Christ who strengthened me to carry out this study about one of His saints, St. Augustine, whose life, books, and researches brought blessings to many and glory to God's name. My dream was to give this study to the Augustine of the 21 st centuries, His Holiness the Pope Shenouda III, the 117 th Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church; however, he departed from our world in March 2012. May the Lord repose his soul in the heavenly Jerusalem. This dissertation would not have been possible without the help of Dr. Samuel Smith. My workload was greatly revealed because of his meticulous effort, his inspiration, and his guidance. Therefore, I really thank him sincerely for his support and leadership. He is a talented man according to the teachings of the Holy Bible. I aspire to emulate my mentor, Dr. Smith, in his professionalism and Christian character. St. Luke says,-A disciple is not above his teacher; but everyone when is fully trained, will be like his teacher‖ (Luke 6:40 King James Version).
