This book takes up a number of pertinent issues of the contemporary world and its elements which have already influenced or-in the nearest future-will influence the very process and the efficiency of educational processes (especially those concerning upbringing). Naturally, we had to be selective when choosing the issues to be included in this book. Our choices were motivated by our own knowledge and macro diagnoses-these directed us towards the aspects we decided to focus on. Needless to say, this does not mean that we think the issues not discussed here should be deemed as unimportant. Upon choosing concrete issues we had to make further decisions regarding their treatment, i.e. which of them should be subjected to a more theoretical discussion and which should be treated in a more practical way by offering both analyses and solutions. It is our contention that this book strikes a balance between the theoretical and practical perspectives and focuses on the knowledge that a reflective educational practitioner can transfer neglected and underestimated in the everyday educational work. Due to the fact that exclusion frequently concerns people with special educational needs, the idea for educational means and the methods of group work are so important-these are elaborated on by Iwona Chrzanowska and Beata Jachimczak. The next two chapters, by Ewa Solarczyk-Ambrozik, Małgorzata Rosalska, take up the issue of both the idealised and more down-to-earth career planning and guidance. The second text by Agnieszka Gromkowska-Melosik introduces the

The relevance of this study is due to significant changes in the field of modern education. In new aspects, the concepts of “equality” and “social justice” appeared on the background of the educational space. Modern society needs to build a qualitatively new system of training of a teacher, capable to solve fundamentally new tasks that meet the needs of the time. The psychological and pedagogical conditions of vocational training are based on a system of pedagogical actions that activate the creative, individual and personal abilities of students, ensuring the social and moral formation of the future generation. These actions are aimed at creating a cultural and educational space that forms the students' personal readiness to master a profession in the changing world of educational realities. The purpose of research is to work out a paradigm for the development of competence of pedagogical support of students in the course of multifunctional activity with its subsequent testing....

The turning point in Poland’s history, whose twentieth anniversary was celebrated in 2009, has contributed to a large number of changes not only to the political system and economy, but also to culture. Nevertheless, according to the analyses regarding the Polish school - presented in many reports compiled upon commission of the Ministry of Education and EFS - it can be concluded that the educational system is not subject to similar, rapid transformations. As the researchers have it, the system of education is characterized by pedagogical conservatism, a hierarchical structure, a class-lesson arrangement within the school work organization, predominance of expository methods as well as by weak bonds with the local environment. Considerations on the disproportion between the changes occurring in the environment of educational institutions and their operation may be referred to the concept to education according to Michael Fullan (2006). He believes that the school crisis lies in the superficiality of reforms and too much concentration on changes made to the formal structures instead of having norms, customs and manners, abilities and beliefs transformed. One of the vectors of changes is the teacher, aware of his/her role as an active individual, who shares the sense of such changes. Therefore, it is essential to describe the factors which determine the preparation of a teacher for their future work, and among them – the practical professional preparation which seems to be crucial. Nowadays, when knowledge is not only transmitted by educational institutions, the question is about the teacher’s place. The process of setting some learning objectives for candidates for teachers who study entails understanding the learning process as an activity more social than individual. Today’s thinking of education can indicate the meaning of molding the behavior of those who study. According to the National Framework of Qualifications, knowledge and qualifications should constitute a tool for university graduates to realize the value system expressed in the sense of involvement, responsible participation in society. The authors of the Polish project particularly emphasize that the issue is not imposing the only right value system (as before 1989), but rather the sensitivity indispensable for one to understand their place in today’s world. In the light of the considerations presented herein, I have indicated the role of practical preparation for the teacher’s profession as a way of not only acquiring skills, but also of molding attitudes through imitation and encouragement towards educationally desirable actions. Triggering reflections upon the existing educational solutions for young teachers is aimed at enabling them to make decisions on their own account and to transform the reality they face. But there is still left the question whether university level schools are ready for implementing the assumptions arising from the European Higher Education Area. According to the analysis given in the project Tuning Educational Structures in Europe, the competence regarding interpersonal skills, much appreciated by graduates and employers, is actually put at the end of the scale by university teachers. The concept of social dimension of learning is one of possible answers to the question about the diversity of educational contexts which appear nowadays .

In the teaching of practical courses, it is possible to use several methods and forms. During pedagogical practice students are required to record their own experiences in diaries or portfolios and also they should collect evaluation of mentors, experts from practice in the form of a final summary. But more effective are final reflective sessions - students present the story of their own practice to their classmates and for the university teacher of the practical course it is great possibility to use supervision. These meetings represent the culmination of practical training for students of social pedagogy and parenting at the Faculty of Education of the Trnava University in Slovakia, because of the dissemination their own practical experience to each other, which they reflected in diaries and portfolios during their internship and based on them they also receive an evaluation from the mentor and a classification from the course teacher. The study will bring the possibilities of other alternatives can be used in the practical teaching of students, which should increase the process of identification with the profession and enable effective adaptation of students to the future profession, e.g. method of storytelling (so-called living books). Based on the obtained data we present educational strategies of effective enforcement and adaptation of graduates to the still little-known profession of social pedagogue in the education sector in Slovakia, in which, as a coordinator of the school support team, they can significantly contribute to a better inclusive process in schools and school facilities .

The public debate stimulated by the publication of several both national and international researches on schools and teachers urges the investigation of pedagogical thinking around the selection, training and education of teachers in the perspective of lifelong learning supported by a-consistent and appropriate-system design. The aim of this reflection paper is to stress pedagogical reflection and educational research about the crucial role of selection, education, training of teacher-with focus on primary teacher education-and of "continued construction" of their qualifications in relation to the very fast-changing social and cultural, as well as the important issue concerning the quality of teaching and training. This is achievable if the initial training and in-service training are designed, planned, implemented as part of a system of vocational training in the teaching profession. This type of teacher training will guarantee to have an education for all children and to make teachers efficiently able to stimulate children themselves toward a lifelong learning and education perspective too. Reflections are deepened with a systemic-relational approach and hermeneutic, heuristic and critical method, suggesting university as possible key institution-not the only, of course-to think about and plan a new system of teacher education and education of teacher in a life-professional-long perspective.

In the paper, we have presented results of the theoretical analysis of mutual conditioning of pedagogical communication and social competence of students with special review on the fact in which way application of pedagogical communication, including its aspects, factors, pedagogical principles and activities, influences development of skills of social competencies of students. The research keeps pace with new understanding of the pedagogical process, which started to be treated transcendentally-philosophically as "communication" between a teacher and a student from the second half of the 20 th century. Initiation and minting this research are significant for clear conceptualization of social skills and social competence, because teaching is based on the forms of social interaction and pedagogical effects (value system, attitudes, interests...) which all depend on social experience of students. The issue or question, which is heading this research, is does the application-procesuality of pedagogical communication, including its aspects, factors, pedagogical principles and activities influence and in what way development of social competencies of students? The aim of the research is defined in the following way: observe and describe directions and scope of influence and usefulness of pedagogical communication in the process of development of social competencies of students. In relation to the stated problem and aim of the thesis, our approach was qualitative research of the topic. In this respect, theoretical basis, on which postulates we have contemplated the stated problems, is communicative pedagogy, whereas epistemological assumptions of the research were positioned within interpretative paradigm. Methodological assumptions of the research have been realized within the plan of fundamental (basic) pedagogical research, of the

In a world where the societies are rapidly modernizing and both, employment and competences are increasing rapidly, individuals should be able to adapt to socio-cultural and social development through the individuals' self-knowledge, development and training in every field throughout life. The objective of this paper is to try to determine the knowledge, attitudes and perceptions of the students studying at vocational schools about Lifelong Learning Approach, also considering some demographic variables. According to the results obtained in the paper, it was concluded that the students in vocational schools have partial information about the Lifelong Learning Approach, have adopted some of the basic principles of the approach and use some of the features of the approach in their lives intentionally but do not know some basic principles of the approach.
