Spondylus gaederopus is a bivalve marine mollusc that has been used in the Aegean since the Neolithic as a raw material for ornaments, such as beads and bracelets. Less well known is that the upper, smaller, crimson valve was also used as a utilitarian object. In the case of completely preserved valves it is often assumed that these were brought to the settlements as raw material for the production of ornaments. In the context of this short contribution, a different interpretation will be proposed: During the intensive surface excavations in north-eastern Thessaly, several Spondylus valves were discovered, which are interpreted here as spoon bowls due to their shape, the well-thumbed lock and the worn edges. Their use as spoons could also explain the lack of bone spoons at most Aegean sites. Because of the constant availability of the raw material shell near the coast, it was not only used in the Early Neolithic, but also in later periods, even in the Chalcolithic and the Bronze Age.
Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) children and young people face significant barriers throughout their education, which results in them being severely underrepresented in HE. Perhaps because there is still an urgent need to address the issues faced by these groups in primary and secondary education, there is limited existing research on Gypsies’, Roma and Travellers’ progression to university. However, to achieve educational equality for these groups they must be given the same choice and opportunity as their peers from other backgrounds. The first step towards increasing equality in HE is to investigate how issues in compulsory education impact on progression to HE to understand and address specific barriers which reduce GRT pupils’ participation in HE. This report, commissioned by King’s College London, and co-authored with my LKMco colleagues Ellie Mulcahy, Loic Menzies and Kate Bowen-Viner, presents a summary of the current landscape and a review of the barriers to HE faced by Gypsies, Roma and Travellers. We draw on existing literature and our own research with academics, practitioners, members of the GRT communities and pupils to explore: - The definition of ‘Gypsy, Roma and Traveller’ and the various sub-groups described by this collective term - How these groups are distributed in the national and pupil population - Their current progress and attainment throughout primary and secondary education - The degree to which they are underrepresented in HE - The challenges and barriers they face in compulsory education which may impact on their participation in HE - The specific barriers they face in entering HE. Throughout the report, we point towards potential responses to the challenges and make recommendations for schools, HEIs and for further research.

....sing its evaluation trend in western though toward creating responsible and efficient organization that is responsible for defined duties in the continuous changing. Social justice, protection of citizens liberties, society and are outlines are functions of established institution by people in order to organize the country’s current affairs. Taking look at the path which leads to establishing this institution, shows a turbulent path. Since city –state up to church hegemony and transition to the age of enlightenment in the seventeen and eighteen centuries, the emergence of the great theories such as: “Locke”, “Rousseau”, “Mill” andother great thinkers in this field gives the spirit of ministers thought to the governance structure and has kept this process open and keeps the process ready for steps forward in order to achieve better governance by human. Undoubtedly this fundamental perspective about government ruling views can’t be discussed out of time and place circumstances even conditions of growing thinkers were not without effect for offering their views. But political sociology was so helpful in order to emerge the ideas. Individualistic look, especially after transition from domination of the church which effect these thoughts, caused that now after period of modernity, post-modern views makes great challenges in terms of the causes of human separation and talked about analysis of internals and human’s nontechnological relation in family and psychoanalysts such as: “Lacan” and thinkers like: “Lyotard”,”Indarian”, “Michel Foucaultet” and have developed challenged. And this is a path that will have a tremendous impact on state’s function ...
