JUSTICE THOMAS delivered the opinion of the Court. Our Constitution gives Congress control over the public fisc, but it specifies that its control must be exercised in a specific manner. The Appropriations Clause commands that “[n]o Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law.” Art. I, §9, cl. 7. For most federal agencies, Congress provides funding on an annual basis. This annual process forces them to regularly implore Congress to fund their operations for the next year. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is different. The Bureau does not have to petition for funds each year. Instead, Congress authorized the Bureau to draw from the Federal Reserve System the amount its Director deems “reasonably necessary to carry out” the Bureau’s duties, subject only to an inflation-adjusted cap. 124 Stat. 1975, 12 U. S. C. §§5497(a)(1), (2). In this case, we must decide the narrow question whether this funding mechanism complies with the Appropriations Clause. We hold that it does.

I rapporti tra la ricerca storica e la tutela del patrimonio artistico sono un tema oggi più che mai attuale, perché stanno alla base di una corretta ed efficace politica di gestione, conservazione e valorizzazione dei beni culturali. Le province di Como e Sondrio, da questo punto di vista, rappresentano nel panorama lombardo un osservatorio privilegiato, per le vicende complesse che hanno caratterizzato la riscoperta del territorio a partire dai flussi turistici di fine Ottocento e dalla grande esposizione voltiana del 1899, passando poi per la nascita di istituzioni e sodalizi finalizzati alla salvaguardia delle memorie storiche. Erano gli anni in cui le riviere dei laghi e le valli alpine venivano attraversate da “tourists” di eccezione, come Henry James, Antonio Fogazzaro, Edith Wharton; gli altri schieramenti di questa partita comprendono figure chiave della tutela come Francesco Malaguzzi Valeri e Luca Beltrami, Corradi Ricci e Nello Tarchiani da un lato, collezionisti e conoscitori come Emilio Visconti Venosta, i fratelli Bagatti Valsecchi, Giovanni Morelli e Bernard Berenson dall’altro lato. Le loro testimonianze, insieme a restauri, mostre, dispersioni, hanno plasmato – a volte trasformato e manipolato – un’idea di identità storica del territorio, che si è tramandata sino al presente ed è oggi affidata alla capacità di fruizione e valorizzazione di tutti i cittadini.

In recent years, several independent studies conducted by different organizations, show that the data extracted from the companies running the business in different industries in their daily work represents a real gold mine. The huge volume of information hide, most of the times, the key to success and provide clues for understanding market trends and the directions of customer needs. The main problem is that the modern world presents the information in a less natural way. Mobile technologies, decreases price of IT equipment (Information Technology), social networks, and the economic crisis have caused major changes in the behavior of both end users and companies. The speed at which information is produced and circulated, large data volumes increased considerably, so that the need to indentify on time new business opportunities and make appropriate decisions increased accordingly.

Στο σύντομο αυτό κείμενο, επιχειρώ να σκιαγραφήσω πτυχές μιας θεοκρατικής πολιτικής θεολογίας και να την συνδέσω με την προβληματική της καταφατικής ή θετικής βιοπολιτικής.

Estudos de História e Arqueologia de Vouzela nº 2, Atas das II Jornadas de arqueologia de Vouzela-Lafões, 2 e 3 de julho de 2021: 17-35, 2023

Apresenta-se uma síntese da investigação arqueológica de Aristides de Amorim Girão, um dos pioneiros da moderna arqueologia pré-histórica da Beira Alta. O seu trabalho debruçou-se sobre três temas principais: o estudo das manifestações funerárias sob mamoa, a arte rupestre e as origens da região de Lafões, a sua terra natal. Faz-se também breve referência a algumas das figuras contemporâneas com quem se relacionou. / A summary is presented of the archaeological research by Aristides de Amorim Girão, one of the pioneers of modern prehistoric archaeology in Beira Alta. His work focused on three main topics: the study of funerary mound structures, rock-art, and the origins of the Lafões region, his homeland. A short reference is also made to some of the contemporary figures with whom he related.
