Although geographically widely separated, the Formation of the Linear Pottery culture (LBK) in the Pannonian Basin and the Transformation from Starčevo to Vinča in Southeast Europe are chronologically largely parallel. Structurally they are very different.
Quaternary International, 2020
Although geographically widely separated, the formation of the Linear Pottery culture (LBK) in the Pannonian Basin and its expansion into Central Europe and the transformation from Starčevo to Vinča in Southeast Europe are chronologically largely parallel. However, there are some striking structural differences between the two cultural groups. Vinča shows remarkably complex settlement structures, as well as a strong specialization in handicrafts, from which, amongst other things and sometime later, the oldest European metallurgy emerges. Already in its earliest phases, there are signs of social differentiation. In contrast, the LBK appears to be a rather more homogeneous phenomenon behind which is an egalitarian society. The settlements and burial costumes are largely uniform. The strong similarity of its material culture over a wide geographical space speaks for some strict ideological concepts, under which the members of society can nevertheless be quite egalitarian. Taken as topic for discussion, this immediately raises the question as to whether the two cultural entities deliberately emphasize these differences, in order to differentiate themselves from each other. Could it be that the cultural expression of each of the two groups is a reaction to the peculiarities of the other group?
Recent work at Vinča-Belo Brdo has combined a total of more than 200 radiocarbon dates with an array of other information to construct much more precise narratives for the structural history of the site and the cultural materials recovered from it. In this paper, we present the results of a recent attempt to construct formal models for the chronology of the wider Vinča potscape, so that we can place our now detailed understanding of changes at Belo Brdo within their contemporary contexts. We present our methodology for assessing the potential of the existing corpus of more than 600 radiocarbon dates for refining the chronology of the five phases of Vinča ceramics proposed by Milojčić across their spatial ranges, including a total of 490 of them in a series of Bayesian chronological models. Then we outline our main results for the development of Vinča pottery. Finally, we discuss some of the major implications for our understanding of the source, character and tempo of material change.

Ancient modern towns. I centri urbani a continuità di vita: archeologia e valorizzazione (studi in memoria di Anna Maria Giuntella)(atti del convegno: Chieti – Corfinio, 2015), a cura di M.C. Somma (Past, 10), Roma, Quasar, 2021, pp. 101-111 ill., 2021
A proper interpretation of a settlement from the urbanist point of view can not ignore the stratigraphic samples offered by archaeological research, regardless a precise reading of the topography and a wide range of local and extra regional comparisons.
The paper aims to measure the attitude of the Bangladeshi people toward online shopping and to identify the factors that are critical to the preference to the online shopping. The findings from an extensive survey showed an overall positive reaction towards online shopping. Moreover, the study provides some interesting insights on consumer preferences towards online shopping in Bangladesh. The sample respondents have positive attitude towards online shopping which is mainly due to convenience in terms of less time consuming and hassle free shopping. Age, gender, income, profession/occupation, family structure and ICT familiarity are found as the critical factors for preferring online shopping. Findings also support that younger people who are frequent users of Internet are more inclined to online shopping. The findings contribute not only to existing literature by conducting an empirical survey on attitude of the people towards online shopping but also suggest the marketers that there is a high potential for target oriented online selling which is counter intuitive that Bangladeshi buyers are not ready for online shopping.
