Which to being organized by Kathmandu University School of Education in 21\02\2017AD. After, listening the question, I started thinking and considering for a minute. “It is an introduction only” Sir told me immediately. “Yes” I replied and became ready. There were altogether 23 participants in that program. There was fear in me although, I went to give my introduction in front of them. When I saw the several eyes there “immediately” I became confused and nervous too. As a result, my whole mind became empty as a blank sheet paper and I could not give my introduction even a single minute also, I said ‘sorry’ this is all. Then, I came back to seat. In the very meantime, my eyes were full of tears and mind was not functioning Properly. I returned to my room, kept my bag, put off my dresses and slept without having meal because of that accident. “What type of student l am?” My mind was thinking about whole night. It was shameful moment for me. That is why, I became ill from the very next morning. But, I didn’t lose my courage. “I have to be a fluent English speaker one day” I promised with myself. For that I became restless and one day asked with Sir, "How can I develop my speaking?” They suggested me to do some of the activities “which really would help me” they said. I became very much excited and I motivated to learn English language. For that, I followed each and every instruction that were given to me, I did not stop yet, I am following so far. And at last, my fluency in English language is getting better, that I used to think those days. In this way, I brought my dream into reality. As I improved my English speaking fluency, it would be helpful for those who wants to improve his/her speaking fluency English language like me. “When there is a will there is a way” by remembering this, we should have to make our courage stronger. When we get motivated, we can learn anything else easily. But, if we do not know proper road map, we cannot reach where we want to go. So, I would like to share some of the tips ‘how we can improve our English speaking skills ourselves’ through this article. There are three main crucial activities, we need to be doing while learning English communication skill; developing confidence, Practicing, observing different YouTube videos and reading different English books, stories, news and journals as well. Let me tell the details about these activities one by one here below. Which is really going to help you. Developing self Confidence Most of the students fossilized their study when such types of problem come in their life; these all happened due to lack of confidence. Therefore, confidence development is one of the significant part of learning anything else. For this, teachers and parent’s roles are significant because, when I was lost my confidence in that speaker’s club, then Laxman sir suggested me by telling ‘Do not mind Hiralal it is natural, it happens with everyone, even with me also’ But you need to learn more and more, ultimately you will be a good English speaker. When Students fail, their courage become empty as a result, they feel learning as a burden or something like impossible. So that they stop learning in such situations, in the very meantime teachers and parents should provide him/her the suggestions and motivational advices in order to develop their confidence. According to the journal (infro.com, 2017, p. 08), "Building self-confidence is preparing yourself for success" which means self-confidence is extremely important in almost every aspect of our life, yet so many learners struggle to find it. Sadly, this can be a vicious circle; learners who lack self-confidence can find difficult to become successful. As I could develop my confidence by the help of teachers and parents, in the same way other can be also developed their confidence and learn batter. Practice -practice and practice “Practice makes students habitual” And learning about language means learning a new habit, Habit Formation is only POSSIBLE through frequent practice. As I have grabbed each and every speaking opportunities by participating in speaker’s club, speaking in front of the mirror, talking with my colleagues, taking part in different seminars, often talking monologues and dreaming in English. Those all practices helped me to make English language as my habit so, that I could speak English language naturally. Pennington (1996), is cited by Jones (2010, p.180), “It appears that although both imitation and discrimination drills have an important place in the teaching speaking as a means to help articulation become more automatic and routinized, they are best seen as a step toward more communicative practice” It also helps to make students' knowledge long lasting and conscious. According to Ellis (2002, p. 170), “practice is perfectly possible to argue that it is the listener’s proficiency that influences practice rather than vice versa” Practices in spoken form of English language while learning is only the best way of making spoken fluency better. For instance, whatever our teacher teaches us about English language it does not work until we use or practice it. Because speaking skill of any language is not the matter of teach, but it is the matter of use and practice. According to Vurdien (2017, P.08), “speaking in the classroom can be dauting for many students” Therefore practice is really importance for developing language skills. In the very meantime, Ellis (2002, p. 170), also says that, Practice probably does help where pronunciation is concerned – it gives learners opportunities to get their tongues around new words and phrases. And it may also be quite effective in helping learners ne lexical materials. So, I would like to recommend this technique to use, for those who wants to develop his English-speaking skill. Watching English videos Watching English videos have really helped me. Because when I saw the English conversation videos by BBC 6 minutes, Emma’s videos on YouTube. I learnt ‘how to pronounce the words, the proper stress pattern, the intonation, the appropriate condition of using the English exponents like; greeting, departing, blessing and suitable body language while speaking English language. Watching videos is not only provides these skills but also creates the natural Englishness environment by providing the native’s voice to listen. Watching English videos helps to develop two skills at a time i.e. spoken and listening. Pennington (1996), is cited by Jones (2010, p.180), “Listening and repeating seem to be a two-way street: Focused listening can improve oral production and practice in oral production can improve auditory perception” And as a result, it is getting better and I could improve a lot in my English-speaking skill. If we want to learn any particular language, then we need to learn the culture of that very language. Unless watching the native’s speaking pattern we cannot be a native like. Watching English videos on YouTube as well as other such sources is important for the beginner speakers. Emma’s, (videos no. 76), “It helps to provide them native's exposures through which students can learn the natural patter and proper way of delivering the language exponents”. Through videos students can be learned stress pattern, intonation, pronunciation and suitable gestures of English language. Many learns forget that listening to natural conversations is a powerful way to learn English which is only possible through watching English videos. Rost (1994, pp. 141-142), is cited by Nunan (2002, p. 238), “listening is vital in the language classroom because it provides input for learners. Without understanding input at the right level, any learning simply cannot begin. And listening is thus fundamental to speaking”. Lindsay & Knight (2006, p. 46), also emphasize that, “for learners, listening is how spoken language becomes input, i.e. it is the first stage of learning a new language” without listening it may be very difficult to learn speaking skill. So, watching English video with hearable sound is one of the best way of improving language communication skills. Through English videos there is one most important tool which really helps to improve English communication skills that is listening skill. Kelbi (2011), is cited in her journal in (iatefl), Pilko (2017, p. 06), “film is a mass media tool as well as an art from the students should be stimulated to think about life questions as well as society and individual values represented in films, helping them to share their view of the world” As it worked for me, be sure it would also work 100% for you. Reading -Reading and Reading “Reading as a plan for solving problems encountered in constructing meaning” (Duffy, 1993, p. 232), is cited in Janzen (2002, p. 287). Yes, this is another integral way of improving the language speaking skill. As sir suggested me to do this activity, then I started reading English newspapers of The Himalayans time, and often The Kathmandu post regularly. Some educational journals like; Wisdom, voices of the international (ITEFL). After using of three months, one kind of extra energy l felt inside me. It really helped me to improve my vocabulary stocks, writing structure, speaking fluency, and my organs of speech get habituate also. Reading aloud of any English texts help to improve two language skills at a time i.e. listening and spoken skills as well. It helps to prepare us in our subject’s matter and also improve our language fluency by providing new information, different expression of English from another knowledgeable writer’s view. So, reading can improve your English-speaking. According to Wallace (2009, p. 23), “Reading with a purpose; Reading plays a key role in almost every course of study. Yet many students do their reading in an unfocused way. This can often lead to poor results. So, let us strategy by trying to clarify our ideas about reading” so, think of as many reasons for reading a book as well as we can. Because without taking it a serious we cannot be a concentrate. I am going to say that, pick up the book, read it, think about the words, remember the structure of writing, if you do not understand ask to your teachers, and try to use those things into your own language. Ultimately, you will be the native like speaker. Conclusion While analyzing my experiences on how to improve English speaking skill. I found that by making mistakes, participating in different speaking activities, interest or thirst towards English speaking, listening as much as possible to the native tongue, and following above mentioned activities can surely be improved our speaking fluency or public speaking confidence. In light of these, our teachers need to create such learner’s involving opportunities for the beginner students, and parents should also support to involve as much they can. But the most significant thing is that "thirst should be for learning English inside the learners”. If students get motivated, then nothing is impossible in the world. I would be interested to know how other motivated learners have dealt with this situation in their own particular day to day life. References Ellis, R. (2002, p. 170).
