Art, Museums and Digital Cultures – Rethinking Change, 2021

This paper addresses the conceptual similarities between the ongoing digital project of the Catalogue Raisonné Graça Morais, developed in the Laboratory of Arts in the Mountain – Graça Morais and the concept of the “virtual museum”. Both the digital catalogue raisonné and the virtual museum are bringing together agents who organise and disseminate information, eliciting meaningful narratives. We note that digital projects can draw on their tools and characteristics, assembling diverse types of documentation in the same platform, regardless of their original nature, and encouraging innovative and non-linear narratives about the exhibited objects. Ultimately, these projects contribute to the creation of a new heritage – “digital heritage”. In addition to these issues, this paper also seeks to contribute to the debate about the challenges of gathering analogue and digital ways of thinking and acting, and about the epistemological questions that emerge when the Social Sciences and Humanities are combined with the digital and virtual sphere.

In this paper, high strength concretes (HSC) containing manufactured sand (or maybe called crushed sand) as fine aggregate in the presence of fly ash (FA), silica fume (SF) were made. The HSC mixtures were designed to achieve 28-day compressive strength beyond 55 MPa. Compressive strength, drying shrinkage, water-tightness and sulfate attack tests were conducted to evaluate the feasibility on the production of HSC having crushed sand, FA and SF. The test results indicated that the compressive strength of all HSC mixtures exceeded 55 MPa at 28 days. There was an improvement in the compressive strength following the addition of SF in HSC. Introducing crushed sand to HSC as fine aggregate led to a reduction in compressive strength. The usage of crushed sand most effectively decreased the length change of HSC, compared with HSC containing natural sand. HSC mixtures can be classified into > B12 water-tightness class. Furthermore, weight loss of HSC was in a range of 0.040.29%.

The present study has the main objective of discussing about the characteristics and behavior of potentially expansive soils. These soils are present in several geographic regions across the world and exhibit variations in volume that consists of expansion or contraction, which are function of increasing or reducing its moisture content. A survey of the technical literature on the topic was carried out to support the study. The used methodology consisted of the application of direct and indirect methods that are based on index properties and in the conduct of laboratory tests. The obtained results were analyzed and compared to estimate the swelling potential and soil behavior. Therefore, the final considerations were presented.
