The paper presents some study in the domain of industrial ecology, regarding the air quality from some industrial zones of Brasov area. The industrial action pollution may be resulted from stationary or mobile sources and also from the increasing of some specific factors such us: gaseous indicators, industrial dusts and precipitation. From the most used metals in industry, the most polluting are: Hg, Co, Cd and Zn, obtained from metallurgy proceedings. Also the industrial sector that pollutes the environment with metallic dusts in general it's the sector of mechanical processing. It is presented some specific aspects about the industrial metallic dust from industry such us: his apparition, his consistence and the deadly effect and also some methods for the atmosphere protection.
Air pollution is a type of environmental pollution that is caused by the presence of a substance which has harmful or poisonous effects. These substances may be gases, particles or biological molecules.
Voice of Environment Newsletter , 2019
It is very heartening to realize that the ‘Voice of Environment’ Newsletter Volume 02, Issue 02, 2019 central theme as Air Pollution is seeing the light of the day. We feel elated to present before you this issue. The main theme of this newsletter revolves around pertinent environmental problems and search for sustainable solutions to the problems in the long run. The authors of the different issues come from interdisciplinary backgrounds with a prolific academic profile. The entire globe is under the immediate threat of climate change & Air Pollution are one of the greatest problems of this century and the globe.
Particulate matter (PM) is a complex mixture of solid and liquid particles that are suspended in air. These particles typically consist of a mixture of inorganic and organic chemicals, including carbon, sulfates, nitrates, metals, acids, and semi-volatile compounds. The size of PM in air ranges from approximately 0.005 to 100 micrometers (µm) in diameter-the size of just a few atoms to about the thickness of a human hair. Researchers have defined size categories for these particles differently. PM is defined by three general categories commonly used by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA): coarse (10 to 2.5 µm), fine (2.5 µm or smaller), and ultrafine (0.1 µm or smaller). Research suggests that particle size is an important factor that influences how particles deposit in the respiratory tract and affect human health. Coarse particles are deposited almost exclusively in the nose and throat; whereas, fine and ultrafine particles generally are able to penetrate to deep a...

Mining Industry is one of the most important and revenue-generating industries of our country. It’s pivotal for the industry to thrive and grow to ensure that the manufacturing sector also develops at the required pace. But the detrimental effects of mining are far more dangerous than we can perceive and must be kept under check to reduce the polluting consequences on environment. Mining of any ore leads to befoulment of water bodies and also air contamination. The sources of air pollution in open cast mines are drilling and blasting of ore bodies, loading and haulage of blasted ore, handling of material and maintenance. The standards for air pollution have been set by National Ambient Air Quality Standards(NAAQS) and it’s based on criteria like PM2.5, PM10, SPM etc. PM2.5 and PM10 are the standards acceptable for respirable dust and pollutants. The water that runs off the mines can have detrimental effect on the water bodies that are in and around the mining areas. The seepage from...
The importance of the environmental pollution lies in its great impact on human life and the surrounding environment. In addition to its disastrous results that extend for many years, it contributes to crystallize the life of man, animal, and plant. The research discusses the concept of environmental pollution, and all the undesirable changes that occur in the environment. It sheds light on the causes of pollution, especially radiation and chemical types result from cars, fumes, gases, smoke and industrial wastes, which included liquid, solid wastes and others. It emphasizes air pollution, its causes, sources, and effects on humans, animals, plants, and the weather. It has a major role in making a foremost change in temperatures degree. Conceivably, the waste is extremely dangerous, and the smoke, fumes, toxins and unpleasant odors of factories and cars cause a fuel combustion with all its preventive measures and procedures. There is no doubt that the expansion of transportation means will negatively affect the percentage of environmental pollution. The research debates the most important factors and causes of water pollution due to throwing liquid and solid wastes into rivers and lakes. The causes of soil and plant pollution can be linked to the use of large quantities of pesticides and chemical fertilizers, which affect the quality of agricultural crops and reduces their fertility. They contribute to the loss of their beneficial organic materials, which harmfully disturbs the life of both humans and animals.

Nowadays, people spend most of their time indoors. Despite constantly cleaning these spaces, dust apparition cannot be avoided. Since dust can contain chemical elements that negatively impact people’s health, we propose the analysis of the metals from the indoor dust component collected in different locations in Dubai, UAE. Multivariate statistics (correlation matrix, clustering) and quality indicators (QI)—Igeo, PI, EF, PLI, Nemerow—were used to assess the contamination level with different metals in the dust. We proposed two new QIs (CPI and AQI) and compared the results with those provided by the most used indices—PLI and Nemerow. It is shown that high concentrations of some elements (Ca in this case) can significantly increase the values of the Nemerow index, CPI, and AQI. In contrast, the existence of low concentrations leads to the decrement of the PLI.

The scientific paper presents a concrete research carried out by the authors in order to implement concepts of a technical nature, so that those interested in this field can get acquainted with a certain way of exposing problems regarding pollutants and pollution from road vehicles in the context of the sustainable development of automotive transport. Below we present a technical and managerial study with engineering nuances, through which readers can look at and understand the concept of sustainable development of this sector in a global context. The work shows aspects regarding the chemical, noise pollution and mechanical vibrations produced by motor vehicles during their operation, the evolution in percentage of the European Pollution Norms, the date of their entry into force and the harmful effects that the pollution has on habitats and human health.

Our understanding of the environmental and occupational health implications of pollutants emitted in steel production is still lacking, despite the considerable amount of research devoted to this topic. Given the significance of steel recycling and the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, many steel factories are adopting electric arc furnace (EAF) technology. The use of a technological system designed for the capture of pollutants emitted through EAF steel production is highly ecological because of its utilization of iron scrap and low investment cost. Despite this, the main issue with the EAF is the environmental impact it poses, specifically the release of pollutants into the air, such as dust and organic substances, chlorinated dioxins and furans, dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls and brominated dioxins and furans. As a result, workers in this field have a considerable rate of morbidity. The main challenge for EAFs is to optimize the capture of powders produced during the technological process, both from the EAF and the workplace. A state-of-the art solution for managing pollutants in modern steel manufacturing is highlighted in this paper, featuring a method used in Romania that employs the Best Available Techniques (BAT) reference document for iron and steel production to directly collect pollutants from the EAF. The system included a cylindrical fitting, a heat exchanger to cool the gases and a hood to collect contaminants. In comparison to other ventilation options, this equipment boasts lower investment and lower operational costs because of its effective and minimal air flow. Through the use of cutting-edge technology and progressive strategies, we can move closer toward our objective of a workplace free from injuries in the steel industry.
