Περίληψη: Η παρούσα εργασία παρουσιάζει την εφαρμογή οργανωμένης παρέμβασης προαγωγής ψυχικής υγείας σε προσχολικό περιβάλλον. Πρόκειται για το πρόγραμμα «Μπορώ να Λύσω το Πρόβλημα» (Shure, 2000) το οποίο προσαρμόστηκε στα ελληνικά δεδομένα και εφαρμόστηκε για πρώτη φορά στη χώρα μας. Η παρέμβαση εφαρμόζοντας πειραματικό ερευνητικό σχέδιο υλοποιήθηκε σε δημόσια νηπιαγωγεία, σε δείγμα 151 παιδιών ηλικίας 4-6 ετών κατά το σχολικό έτος 2004-2005, με στόχο την ενδυνάμωση των γνωστικών τους δεξιοτήτων επίλυσης διαπροσωπικών προβλημάτων. Τα θετικά αποτελέσματα της πειραματικής ομάδας τεκμηριώνουν τη σημασία προαγωγής ψυχικής υγείας ως κρίσιμης διάστασης στον εκπαιδευτικό σχεδιασμό.

Introduction: The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound effect on all aspects of human life and has created a need for social support. The role of the social support of the parents of public children hospitalized in the Covid-19 period is important. The aim of this study was to explore the demographic factors related to social support of parents of hospitalized children. Material and method: in the present study where enrolled 110 parents of hospitalized children (30 males and 80 females) in paediatrics clinic, during the period Feb-April 2021. Data collection was conducted by interview method using a questionnaire, which included parent’s demographic characteristics, and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support questionnaire to assess the social support experienced by parents. Results: Of the 110 participants, 50% of parents score above 22, 22 and 20 (median) on support from significant others, family and friends respectively. In addition 25% of parents had scores above 25,25 and 24 respectively. These values in relation to the possible range of scores (4-28) indicate high levels of social support for parents. Statistically significantly higher support levels of support than significant persons were experienced by parents with higher education (p=0.045), parents who had more than one child in addition to the hospitalized child (p=0.007). Statistically significant higher levels of family support were experienced by parents who had more than one child in addition to the hospitalized child (p=0.003). Statistically significant higher levels of support from friends were experienced by parents with Msc-PhD (p=0.045), parents who had more than one child in addition to the hospitalized child (0.028). Conclusion: Social support can mitigate the effects of social isolation and social distance measures, so the implementation of individualized psychoeducation and intervention programs is needed.

Στο παρόν κεφάλαιο επιχειρείται η παρουσίαση του προγράμματος προαγωγής ψυχικής υγείας «Μπορώ να Λύσω το Πρόβλημα», σχεδιασμένο για την ενδυνάμωση των γνωστικών δεξιοτήτων εναλλακτικών λύσεων και συνεπειών σε διαπροσωπικά προβλήματα σε παιδιά και προσαρμοσμένο για την πιλοτική του εφαρμογή του σε ελληνικά νηπιαγωγεία. Αναλύεται η χρηστική δυνατότητα του προκείμενου προγράμματος από τους εκπαιδευτικούς πρωτοβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης ενώ ανασκοπούνται και εμπειρικά ευρήματα, απόρροια της μακρόχρονης εφαρμογής του.

The present brief review examines the interrelationships between social factors and children’s as well as adolescents’ mental health by looking mostly at the real social and material conditions of their development. The review stems from the sociological theories of social capital (Coleman, 1988), of social disorganization (Sampson & Laub, 1994), and from psycho-social theories of family strain model (Conger & Elder, 1994), and of the psychological sense of community (McMillan & Chavis, 1986). international empirical evidence is presented concerning with the fields of primary and secondary socialization of children and adolescents. This evidence shows that the stable material wellness, intimate and community social bonds, the sense of place together with the sense of psychological community constitute critical factors and processes that influence strongly the social and psychological health of children and adolescents.

The interest with regard to the Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) has increased in the past few years, because the number of people with the aforementioned diagnosis who use mental health services has risen. The study aimed at examining the defense mechanisms in people with BPD diagnosis in relation to the attachment type they adopt. Thesample consisted of 36 adult subjects diagnosed with BPD who attended psychiatric outpatient departments and 36 people who attended the ophthalmologic outpatient care at a general hospital. The adult attachment questionnaire CA-MIR and the Defense Style Questionnaire-40 were administered to the participants. In general, results are in accordance with the theoretical background, because it was demonstrated that diagnosed subjects scored higher in the insecure attachment types, that is, the ambivalent, the detached and the non-resolved, whereas the non-diagnosed scored higher in the autonomous attachment.
