A 20-year-old unneutered male poodle presented prostration, apathy, staggering gait, lack of appetite and tick infestation. The dog was diagnosed with a Sertoli cell tumor in an undescended testicle by cytological, histopathological and immunohistochemical tests. Pancytopenia with moderate nonregenerative anemia, leukopenia and severe thrombocytopenia were detected in the complete blood count. Cytological and histopathological evaluation of the bone marrow revealed a cellularity of 30%, with erythroid (59%), lymphoid (40%) and mast cells (1%), and an absence of granulocytic, monocytic and megakaryocytic lineage cells. In post-mortem examinations, changes related to hemostatic disorders were found. The absence of microorganisms in molecular tests and an estrogen serum concentration over reference values confirmed hyperestrogenism as a possible cause of pancytopenia. The literature describes a Sertoli cell tumor hyperestrogenism that induced pancytopenia, along with bone marrow hypopl...

Objective: This case report describes the surgical management of a clinical case of sertoli cell tumor in a Lhasa Apso breed of dog Materials and methods: A 4-year old sexually intact Lhasa apso was presented with complaints of alopecia, shivering, reduced appeteite and swelling of the inguinal region. The dog was subjected to thorough physical, Hematological, Histopathological and Radiographic evaluations. Results: The vital parameters were within normal values. Hematological analysis revealed anemia and thrombocytopenia as the common findings. Abdominal radiography showed a soft tissue mass in the inguinal region. Histopathology revealed testicular hypoplasia with poorly developed seminiferous tubule with no discernible lumen or spermatozoa and several proliferating sertoli cells on the lining of the basement membrane of the seminiferous tubules which is diagnostic of sertoli cell tumor. Decision to surgically excise the tumor was arrived at. The anesthetic protocol involved premedication with atropine sulphate dosed at 0.04 mg/kg bwt and xylazine dosed at 2 mg/kg bwt intramuscularly (IM). Anesthesia was induced and maintained with propofol dosed at 6 mg/kg bwt intravenously (IV). The tumor mass was surgically excised. Broad spectrum antibiotics (penstrep) and analgesic (pentazocine) were administered for 5 days IM. Conclusion: The condition of the dog improved remarkably and it was discharged on postoperative day 10.

Bone marrow core~biopsies from 63 dogs with malignant lymphoproliferative disorders and leukemic involvement were evaluated. Multicentric lymphoma (44), multiple myeloma (8), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (9), and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (2) were found. Four distinct bone marrow histologic patterns were identified: focal (6), mixed (20), interstitial (28), and packed (9). Of those with focal or mixed patterns, 77% (20126) had paratrabecular distribution. Stromal changes were infrequent, with 6% (4163) having necrosis, 3% (2163) fibrosis, and 6% (4163) osteolysis. For each condition, the interstitial and mixed patterns were the most common presentations, while focal and packed patterns occurred less frequently. Morphologically, cells of metastatic lesions of lymphoma resembled those of primary sites. Colonization of bone marrow by various cytologic types of lymphoma was independent of the histologic patterns.

Seven cases of Sertoli cell tumors in dogs were treated with a history of alopecia, hyperpigmentation, and estrogenic behavior at Madras Veterinary College Hospital, India. The average age of the affected canines was nine years, and they were of mixed breed, including Labrador and Spitz. Although most dogs were brought in for reasons unrelated to Sertoli cell tumors, many exhibited one or more clinical signs associated with this type of tumor. These indicators included prostatic changes, alopecia, hyperpigmentation, hematological changes due to bone marrow suppression, gynecomastia, and feminization associated with hormonal alteration. The recorded cases demonstrated an association between Sertoli cell tumors and cryptorchidism, as all the dogs had one or both testicles undescended. The histopathological features of the tumors varied, with no consistent correlation observed with metastatic potential. All the cases were successfully managed surgically and after two months there was complete remission of all symptoms

Sertoli–Leydig cell tumours with a retiform pattern similar to the pattern of the rete testis are a subtype of sex cord–stromal tumours recognized in the human WHO histological classification of ovarian tumours but not in the equivalent classification for domestic animals. The morphology of the tumour may be confused with that of the more common ovarian epithelial tumours. The gross, microscopical and immunohistochemical features of a canine retiform Sertoli–Leydig cell tumour and its comparison with the human counterpart are presented in this report. Both ovaries were enlarged and cystic. Microscopically, the tumour was cystic with tubulopapillary growth characterized by narrow, elongated branching tubules. Immunohistochemically, the tumour cells expressed alpha-inhibin, while epithelial membrane antigen was not detected, indicating a sex cord–stromal origin of the tumour. Additionally, the tumour cells expressed cytokeratin and vimentin in addition to oestrogen receptor alpha and progesterone receptor.

The present study reports a case of Sertoli cell tumour and its immunohistochemical characterization using pancytokeratin, vimentin and p53 in an adult bull. A six and a half years old bull was presented in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Complex, College of Veterinary Sciences of the University with the history of gradual enlargement of both testes since last one and a half years. Grossly, both testes appeared hard and firm. Microscopically, haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue sections revealed neoplastic Sertoli cells arranged in groups as islands/broad sheets separated by connective tissue stroma. Neoplastic cells showed indistinct cytoplasmic boundary, cytoplasmic vacuolation and enlarged pleomorphic hyperchromatic nuclei with prominent nucleoli. Neoplastic cells were positive for p53 and vimentin and negative for pancytokeratin. Moderate to strong p53 nuclear immunoreactivity was noticed in most of the neoplastic cells indicating role of p53 tumour suppressor gene in tu...

A 6.5-year-old, intact male Cocker Spaniel dog was referred with a history of depression and anorexia of 1-week duration. Mucosal pallor was prominent on physical examination. Complete blood cell count revealed pancytopenia and occasional blast cells. Bone marrow aspirate cytology indicated that individual particles were composed of approximately 60% hematopoietic cells and a monomorphic population of blast cells with perfectly round nuclei, consistent paranuclear clearing, and deeply basophilic cytoplasm devoid of granules dominating the marrow fields. The granulocytic lineage was severely decreased with a granulocytic-to-erythroid ratio of 0.15 and a blast cell percentage of at least 70% of all nucleated cells; the myeloblasts and monoblasts composed <5% of nonerythroid cells. Bone marrow cytology slides were submitted for immunocytochemical immunophenotyping using antibodies to myeloperoxidase, cluster of differentiation (CD)3, CD79a, CD11b, CD45, and CD34. The neoplastic cells did not express any of the antigens assessed. The combination of light microscopic cytomorphology and the immunophenotype were strongly suggestive of pure erythroid leukemia.

The catastrophic ascension of the Europeans to the stage of world history entailed the launching of a race war against Africans, which is still raging to this day. This race war is multifaceted; however, its ultimate objective is the racial extermination of the Africans. In the interim period before the racial extermination of Africans, the Europeans have chosen to embark on a cruel project to "falsify African consciousness". This falsification is achieved through a process of culturicide. By the latter, we imply a form of "intellectual warfare" waged by the Europeans to confuse Africans, especially their most gifted members, about their African identity and culture to serve global white supremacy. The integrationist "double-consciousness" of the New Negros in America and the "New Africans" in South Africa is the highest stage of this intellectual warfare. The latter has resulted in the emergence of integrationist double-consciousness (which accepts whites and seeks to coexist with them) among the black elite, like Dubois, and revolutionary double-consciousness (which rejects both whites and white supremacy) among ordinary Africans both in America and South Africa. Using African phenomenological framework, this paper will argue that the integrationist double-consciousness of the black elite must be abandoned and replaced with the revolutionary double-consciousness of ordinary Africans such as Garveyites and amaqaba. This is in order to destroy whites and global white supremacy and to restore African Renaissance
