Hoping Your Day Goes Swimmingly

A MALE card today for the theme at Let's Squash It!!..  challenge #21

  • Used a leafy embossing folder from Couture Creations - Ambrosia.. and embossed white card
  • Smooched blues and greens Distress Oxide inks on my work mat, lightly spritzed with water and laid the embossed panel over the ink, pressed lightly with my hand and did this till I achieved ink coverage to the raised pattern
  • Used coloured pencils to colour two fish from my stash (unknown) that were once stamped in black ink and heat embossed with gold EP, fussy cut them out
  • Attached some thin strips of green card to the side  and trimmed the panel to fit a white card
  • Stamped sentiment from Sheena Douglass Sea View Collection, with Versamark and used Sizzix Fir Tree embossing powder, on a strip of vellum... you couldn't see it on the background then so I added a strip of white card behind and attached it and the fish with foam tape

Thanks for stopping by my blog... have a wonderful creative weekend... cheers Robyn

Happy Birthday

Hi and thanks for visiting ......
I have a rare "Male" card for you today
and
thanks to the ladies at Let's Squash It challenge -
some more use of my embossing folders

I saw this technique ages ago and made a sample and then it disappeared into the UFO pile... but with the theme of Animals I thought to try it out.   This embossing folder lends itself beautifully  -  I stamped the 'trees reflection' in black Versafine directly onto the EF and with white card ran it through the Cuttlebug - I made a few examples so there will be some more cards and I really like how it turned out.   Watercoloured the background with Distress Inks, framed it with navy card.  Stamped and white embossed the sentiment on the bottom and to finish added a die cut bird that I coloured with pencils

Hope you have a wonderful creative day... cheers
NOTE: I looked through my Pinterest saves and found the technique that inspired me.. here is the link

Happy Birthday

I do love this old wood mounted owl stamp and he hasn't been out of the drawer some time... so I've used him for a male card.  Stamped the image in grey ink and used pencils to colour him, smudging some purple into the background with blotting paper.  I die cut a rectangle from purple card as a winder and stamped and gold embossed the sentiment along the bottom before attaching to a white card.

Two Nautical Cards

Hi it's Twofer Card Challenge time and the theme for Challenge #19 is Nautical... so I've chosen to make a Bon Voyage and a young male Birthday card.... always fun the challenge yourself to make two different cards from the same image.

For my first card, I stamped the yacht scene and used Twinkling H2Os to watercolour it.  Then I stamped the portal and embossed it with silver EP... and fussy cut it, to use as a frame.  I used a ripples stencil to emboss the white background panel and finished off with a stamped sentiment and used a stitched die to form a label.

For my young boy birthday card I stamped the above image twice and fussy cut the yachts...then used Distress Inks to watercolour them.  I did the same for my boy.  Next I created a little stream scene at the bottom of my card panel... sponged blue DO through the ripple stencil for the water and painted on the bank and grass.  To finish I stamped the sentiment and used a stitched die cut rectangle to frame the panel and then attached my images.

I am also playing along with AAA Birthday challenge #4 - For the Boys   ...   And The Male Room challenge #117 - Birthday card - and congrats as they are celebrating  years   ...  And Happy Little Stampers Watercolour August challenge - Option:  Ocean.
Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate it, happy card making.

Hoping Your Day Goes Swimmingly...

For this card I decided to use the Paper Towel with my 'moppings' on the card....there was just enough inked section the frame behind a double stitched die cut circle frame and to add some more interest I tore small sections and glued them in place around the edge.  I love that the PT wasn't too soppy and that the impressed circle design still showed, so I die cut white card circle to fit behind hold all the bits in place.  The circles reminded me of bubble so I chose to make an undersea theme and attached some die cut seaweed and a stamped seahorse... I dropped Alcohol Ink onto cream pearl card and after it dried stamped my image in permanent ink, then fussy cut it out.... the pearl card shows through the AI and so he's all shimmery...lasted added a silver embossed stamped sentiment on vellum.  I am playing along with CAS Mix Up August challenge - Paper Towel ...  And Shopping Our Stash #402 challenge - Gone Fishing!  ...   And Addicted to CAS challenge #165 - Bubble.
Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate it - happy stamping.

Have a Great Day

Time for a Masculine card and although I don't have too many male stamps I have a stash drawer with stamped images that I have collected from friends over the years... heavens only knows how old this stamped and embossed image of a golf bag is, but it will come in handy for hubby's birthday because he loves his golf.  I used DI to water colour the image and the motley effect is from the ancient card, then I used a silver gel pen to colour the clubs.  Cut green card to frame the panel and embossed a mustard strip to go with it onto a dark green card..  To finish I added the stamped sentiment with foam tape.
I am playing along with Watercooler Wednesday WWC226  Dawn's Masculine "Anything Goes" challenge and Pixie's Snippets Playground #355 - using your stash.  Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate it and happy stamping.

Happy Birthday

Through the week I seem to work of bits of cards, I suppose I'm deciding on colours or something... anyway this stenciled panel was too busy so I just stamped my sentiment in black and clear embossed it.  Then layered it with a blue frame onto a teal card.  I think the colours are perfect for a male card - just a sentiment too for those men without a sport or hobby to dress up the card.  I am playing along with Watercooler Wednesday WWC221  - Tristan's Masculine "Anything Goes" challenge.  Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate it... happy card making.

Happy Birthday

The challenge this month at CAS Stencil has so many variables for the coloured background .... for this card I chose to sponge Distress Ink in Mermaid Lagoon on white card then cut it in half lengthwise.  I used Tea Dye DI sponged over the stencil on one strip - three times... blue card,  and then a light water mist to the stencil, turned it over onto the second strip, three times... white card.

To finish my white card I simply die cut a banner and stamped on the sentiment.
On my blue card I replaced the stencil and sponged on Versamark then dusted with copper Perfect Pearls.  To finish this card I added a die cut sentiment cut from coppery coloured glitter card.

Thanks for visiting, I really appreciate it and if you find time we would love for you to join in with at CAS Stencil.
