Due to the fact that some individuals do not have good medical facilities at the rural areas which they dwell, they tend to travel all the way to the urban areas in order to get consulted by quality medical consultants, which in some cases they might end up not meeting with the consultants due to various documentation processes and also the volume of patients who are waiting to be consulted. This study is aimed at developing an android based medical consultation application whereby patients can register and get consultation from volunteer medical consultants just by using their mobile phones for little or no cost.

Agriculture in Nigeria is a branch of its economy providing employment for over 70% of its popula... more Agriculture in Nigeria is a branch of its economy providing employment for over 70% of its population and contributing about 41% to it gross domestic production (GDP). Nigeria's wide range of climate variations allows it to produce a variety of food and cash crops. Cucumber/watermelon is among the few varieties of fruits and vegetables produced in the country. The need for steady monitoring of the plants is necessary to detect and control the spread of its diseases. Common practices for detecting these plants diseases are mostly based on direct observation of the affected plant, which are sometimes erroneous. Laboratory analysis can also be used for plant diseases detection but mostly costly and time consuming. Digital image processing can identify and grade the diseases in cucumber/watermelon. This will aid in describing and predicting the performance of the said cultivated crops, hence increasing the production yield. Although, official disease recognition is a responsibility of professional agriculturists, low-cost observation and computational assisted diagnosis can effectively help in the recognition of a plant disease in its early stages. The application software was designed based on Object Oriented System Analysis and Design Methodology while UML was used to model the system; MATLAB was used in designing the front-end and the database is MYSQL Server. The developed system works efficiently and can successfully detect and classify the specified diseases in cucumber/watermelon with a precision between 92% and 98%.

Air pollution is one of the most significant problems affecting the quality of life and the healt... more Air pollution is one of the most significant problems affecting the quality of life and the health of the rising urban population of industrial societies. A common industrial pollutant resulting from the incomplete burning of natural gas and any other material containing carbon is carbon monoxide and other hazardous substances. Real time environmental data monitoring has significant role in industries and also in everyday life. This study presents air pollution monitoring system using a gas sensor and a microcontroller. It also sends SMS to those who are likely overexposed to these pollutants. The system comprised of nodes/pairs of sensors and attendant microcontroller which are used to measure pollutant parameters at any particular point of interest. The data is read on a (Personal Computer) PC through a USB connection. The microcontroller-based system provides a tool for real time monitoring of carbon monoxide and Liquefied Petroleum Gases at any location deployed. This monitoring device can deliver real-time measurements of air quality. The system was deployed at an industrial location and it performed reliably.

Criminals and related illegal activities are difficult to predict and far more difficult to deal ... more Criminals and related illegal activities are difficult to predict and far more difficult to deal with once identified. The Nigerian police force (NPF) typically bases its methods solely on internal communication, dismissing (ignoring) the involvement of external parties such as citizens. The lack of timeliness between the occurrence of the criminal event, its identification, and action is due to the investigation chain. In this regard, a system based on Internet of Things technology is proposed to aid in the detection and tracking of criminals. It aims to enable the communication and collaboration between citizens and the NPF in the criminal investigation process embracing the advantages of IoTs technology. Having identified the problem of the existing system, this research used an object oriented methodology; REACTJS for User Interface design, Firebase and MySQL for a distributed database. The resultant application will allow members of the society to anonymously report crime without having to go to the police station thereby reducing crime rate. The system keeps record of wanted criminals and convicted criminals through which people can report wanted criminals when sighted, the designed system tracks reporters IP addresses in order to locate reporter's geo-location to enable NPF or any other law enforcement agencies to locate crime scene in time.

It is aimed at developing a health management system that collects information on tropical diseases in Nigeria. The system is designed in such a way that information is generated from each patient that visits the hospital electronically over time. The system is also capable of querying the data base for some selected tropical diseases that are mostly common from health records of each state of the country. It adheres strictly to information privacy policies with respect to patient information. The major objective of this research is to use the information generated for medical research, planning for preventive and curative care, assist donor agencies to plan medical aid for the country and it can also be used for planning national health budget. The Health Management System is a web application developed using PHP, CSS and MYSQL as database. Object Oriented Analysis and Design Methodology (OOADM) were used to analyze the system and Unified modeling language (UML) is used to model the software. After a successful testing and implementation of the system with patient's data generated from five health facilities, the result of the test meets the objective of this study. The system will useful for keeping patient health record, diagnosis, prescription and to view tropical diseases online for research purposes.

make a call from a computer, a VoIP phone, or other data-driven devices. Simply stated, it is an internet-based
telecommunications service. Traditional telephony services can now be distributed over computer networks using
packet-switched protocols thanks to VoIP technology. Any VoIP-compatible network, such as a local area network, can
carry VoIP packets (LAN). Switching to VoIP could save you money on communication services. With a VoIP service,
long-distance and international calls are normally secure. This study simulated VoIP technology over a typical school
local area network, allowing voice and video calls to be made across the network. This framework was evaluated and
developed using the Object-Oriented Methodology. The system was made up of two main components: software and
hardware. A miniSIP server and a client softphone named Zoiper make up the software portion. The hardware part is
made up of two laptops, a phone, an Ethernet cable and a wireless router. The miniSIP server helps the network
administrator create local user and assign them call number. The Zoiper softphone (which is a client software), is used
to connect the miniSIP server for voice or video communication. When a client places a call over the LAN network
using the Zoiper softphone, the Zoiper client software connects the miniSIP server on the network to indicate that a
call has been placed, then the miniSIP server connects both clients (the caller and the receiver) using each client or
user’s IP address to establish communication between both clients. During voice communication between both clients,
each has option to request for a video call in the middle of the voice call which can be accepted or declined by the
client receiving the request. A real-time testing of this system was carried out and it proved to be successful.

The advent of Global System for Mobile communication also known as GSM in Nigeria (although has p... more The advent of Global System for Mobile communication also known as GSM in Nigeria (although has provided Nigerians with effective telecommunication services) leveraged many societal ills. This has not only complicated the security problem in the country; it has also affected the economy negatively. To effectively and efficiently check these ills, a centralized referenced database for all the GSM operators in the country is of utmost important. This study is concerned with the design and implementation of a simulated centralized reference database for GSM providers in Nigeria. The traditional individual operator’s databases have not been efficient in providing access points that could allow security and regulatory bodies to monitor at real time, the activities of suspicious users. This study simulated a centralized reference database for GSM providers in Nigeria because of their cost implication. The Object-Oriented System Analysis and Design Methodology (OOSADM) were used for the analysis while the implementation was done using HTML, CSS, PHP and MYSQL database technologies. The system developed, provided access points to security and regulatory agents to monitor user activities at real time. It also performs user SIM registration; sends SMS; provide call detail records; blacklist suspicious subscriber at real time and monitor processes. The test result showed that security agents were able to receive feedback from the system seconds after a user action.
