The article is a description of theoretical and conceptual design of Novaya Sortirovka residential area community center in the city of Ekaterinburg. The design serves to identify residential area symbolics by use of planning structure, which has existed on this territory earlier, as well as current territory functionality.
In the course of description of theoretical and conceptual design, one can trace method of design basis, familiarize itself with trial design, and define criteria for selection of optimal space planning decision.
The article may be interesting for anyone who is interested in architectural means of area symbolics creation, conceptual design and means of architectural form theoretical justification.

The article is devoted to the term of city artistic identity that is examined through the example of Ekaterinburg, as well as to description of basic elements of Ekaterinburg city structure, which can be used for uncovering city artistic identity.
The author separates these elements into separate layers. Structural-framed layer is a street and road network of the city; relief layer is devoted to mountains; city landmarks layer consists of landmarks and dominants; toponymic layer contains information on city toponymy; non-administrative zoning layer contains information on conventional borders of conceptual units of city planning structure; artistic-aesthetic layer contains information about how aristocracy of talent regards the city; sociocultural layer rests on opinion of citizens and guests of the city only, it describes their perception of what is beautiful in the city.
The author leaves the list of layers open, and suggests the reader to engage itself in the search of artistic identity.

The article is devoted to the study of the current state of the industrial heritage sites of the ... more The article is devoted to the study of the current state of the industrial heritage sites of the Urals in terms of rethinking, efficient use, presentation and popularization. The Ural's industrial heritage is considered a unique phenomenon. Its structural entity is a settlement-plant. The characteristic of the perestroika period after the collapse of the USSR is given in terms of historically formed plants transition to the new phase of development in the context of the postindustrial society forming. The main problems of the Ural's small industrial towns are also considered. The results of the current state monitoring of the industrial heritage sites in the Middle Urals are presented. The conservation degrees of the historically formed industrial lands, architecture and other historical environment elements are determined. The industrial and cultural centers creating conception is proposed and it is based on the potential of the historically formed Middle Ural's plants.
