The study intends to inspire further discussion on the theoretical and practical development of cultural routes since the development is still at a liminal stage in China.Design/methodology/approachA total of 253 research articles related to Chinese cultural rote heritage from major Chinese and English research databases China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Web of Science (WOS) and Scopus have been comprehensively identified and reviewed for the purpose of the study.FindingsFour major themes of research on Chinese CRH have been identified: conceptual evaluation, list of the routes and characteristics of the routes, conservation and utilization. The results revealed that China has very rich resources in CRH, many of which were formed a long time ago, which exist across vast geogr...

The present study deals with the reactive extraction of caproic acid of initial concentration (0.01-0.057 mol/lit) using mixed tertiary amine extractant (tri-n-dodecylamine, TDA, tri-n-hexylamine, THA, tri-n-propylamine, TPA, tri-noctylamine, TOA) in non-toxic diluents (jatropha oil biodiesel and soybean oil biodiesel) from its dilute aqueous solution. Different combination of mixed extractant and biodiesels were studied in order to reduce the toxicity. All the results of extraction experiments were presented in the form of distribution coefficient (K D) and degree of extraction (% E). Both physical and chemical extraction were performed at T=302 K ± 1K to get maximum outcome of distribution coefficient and extraction efficiency. For physical extraction, the values of distribution coefficient and degree of extraction were obtained in the range of 0.57 to 4.26 and 35.92 to 80.98 for jatropha oil similarly, 0.59 to 4.33 and 37 to 81.23 for soybean oil. For chemical extraction, the values of distribution coefficient and degree of extraction were obtained in the range of 6.63 to 31.76 and 86.9 to 96.95 for jatropha oil similarly, 6.56 to 33.55 and 86.8 to 97.11 for soybean oil. In this research work it was found that the combination of mixed tertiary amine with soybean oil biodiesel is better than jatropha oil biodiesel in order to obtained maximum distribution coefficient (K D) and extraction efficiency (% E). The problem of toxicity was found to be reducing by the use of non-toxic diluents with the mixed extractant.

This paper examines the impact that these actions had on emissions and expected health effects through reduced personal vehicle travel and electricity consumption. Using daily cell phone mobility data for each U.S. county, we find that vehicle travel dropped about 40% by mid-April across the nation. States that imposed stay-at-home policies before March 28 decreased travel slightly more than other states, but travel in all states decreased significantly. Using data on hourly electricity consumption by electricity region (e.g., balancing authority), we find that electricity consumption fell about six percent on average by mid-April with substantial heterogeneity. Given these decreases in travel and electricity use, we estimate the county-level expected improvements in air quality, and therefore expected declines in mortality. Overall, we estimate that, for a month of social distancing, the expected premature deaths due to air pollution from personal vehicle travel and electricity consumption declined by approximately 360 deaths, or about 25% of the baseline 1500 deaths. In addition, we estimate that CO 2 emissions from these sources fell by 46 million metric tons (a reduction of approximately 19%) over the same time frame.

From Spain to China Diego de Pantoja lived in Beijing from 1601 to 1617, and because of the first expulsion of the Jesuits from China, he died in Macao the following year. In 2018, on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of his death, the Spanish and Chinese authorities and institutions commemorated him and his importance as a model of unexpected cultural synthesis. Pantoja was not only Matteo Ricci’s closest collaborator in Beijing on the policy of “adaptation”, but also the guarantor that this successful strategy of inculturation would not decrease after the death of the master in 1610. Pantoja plays an essential role in the merits of those wise men who came from the West and in the profound imprint they left and that persists to this day in China.

The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has created so far an ocean of global despair and devastation which was to a great extent avoidable, had the adequate intercultu-ral dialogue been in place. By using a fourfold dimensional socio-cultural analysis based on "convictions", "myths", "rites" and "morals" (CMRM), this contribution discusses some major breaches in the dialogue between-what can be called-the Eastern and Western civilizations with regard to the management of the COVID-19. It thus complements other indispensable perspectives of analysis such as epidemiological , economic, political, legal, judicial, technological, with a too often neglected philosophical analysis: the one that can allow social groups to ignite deep changes about who we are. This pandemic is a serious warning prompting a deeper inter-cultural dialogue between East and West. Keywords: COVID-19, Intercultural Dialogue, CMRM-analysis, East-West divide

In companionship with his master Matteo Ricci and other fellows, Pantoja arrived at the very court of Emperor Wanli. Thus, he became the first European along with Ricci- to enter into the Forbidden City. In Beijing he learnt the rich rituals of Confucianism and developed a stable relationship with some officials based on the knowledge of music, cartography, spirituality and astronomy. Diego de Pantoja (1571-1618), a Spanish Jesuit, was the originator of cultural exchanges between China and Spain. He went to China in 1597 and, during his stay of 21 years, he worked in Beijing for 17 years. His journey from Nanjing to Beijing happened across a trade and administrative axis such as the Grand Canal and showed paradigmatically a relevant phenomenon for the global communication of our world: the existence of cultural corridors through which humanity reaches unexpected synthesis. Both in the East and the West some of these ways, like the Silk Road or the Saint James Way are arousing increasing attraction and undergoing a revival of their ancient essence in global traits.

By exploring the similarities and differences between their experiences and that of Western pilgrims, it also reflects on the sustainable marketing strategies of the Camino among Chinese travelers. The research adopts a phenomenological approach and gathers data from 112 online travel journals posted by Chinese Camino pilgrims, and from in-depth interviews with twelve Chinese pilgrims. The results reveal that the Camino is experienced by Chinese pilgrims as a personal journey of well-being and growth, as well as a cross-cultural experience. Authenticity and harmony are observed to be the key elements that contribute to a satisfying and transformative experience for Chinese pilgrims, where they find a cultural-spiritual center close to their traditional values, yet distant from their everyday social practices. Both Chinese and Wester...

Jerónimo Nadal plays a key role in the creation of the tradition of thought based on the person of Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556) and his Spiritual Exercises. Ignacio Ramos book Jerónimo Nadal (1507-1580) und der verschriftlichte Ignatius unveils the large percentage of too often overlooked Nadalian moments in the origins of Ignatian Spirituality. Leaning on Nadal s autobiographical account ( Chronicon Natalis, fully translated) the author deploys a hermeneutical method to show how Nadal´s stressful maturation process became a source of original thought, especially regarding Ignatius. The reader will gain an existentially mediated insight into some of the social and philosophical hot spots (converso question, role of mediations...) of Humanism and the reformation era.
