However, early 2022 during the global campaign against the menace of drug abuse, Nollywood as an industry under the umbrella of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN} threw their support behind National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to combat the menace of drug and drug related crimes through their productions, targeting the youth. At the end of the same year, Far from Home movie was released, which characterized teens as major characters that were selling and using drugs in high school. This work is set out to seek the views of undergraduates in Anambra State on teen characterization in a drug related movie like Far from Home and the support of AGN in combating the menace of drug and drug related crimes. This work was hinged on reception theory and adopted focus group discussion as research design to elicit data from undergraduates in Anambra state. Findings revealed that respondents perceived the teen characters as replica of what is obtainable in the society as the movie reflected the happenings in secondary schools and higher institutions. Also, this study showed that Nollywood as an institution has not indulged in campaign against drug abuse through their productions. Recommendations were made that Nollywood productions should be squarely screened through NFVCB before release to ensure that they indulge in correcting social menace in our society by devoting enough screen time to punish victims.

The study was anchored on the Agenda Setting theory and the theory of reasoned action to argue that ABS radio has the power to raise the significance of the Radio Programme NDLEA And You in thepublics mind, and that changes in the behavioural and normative beliefs of Awka residents after exposure to the NDLEA and YOU, will ultimately affect and could lead to possible positive behavioural change. The study employed a quantitative design being the descriptive survey. Research Questionnaire served as the instrument for data collection which was distributed to a representative sample of 383 residents in Awka community. This selection was based on the recommendations ofKrejcie and Morgan (1970). Findings revealed that many Awka residents are exposed to ABS radio programme "NDLEA and YOU. It was also found that exposure to ABS radio programme "NDLEA and YOU" does not reduce the rate of drug and substance abuse among Awka residents. The study concludes that drug abuse significantly jeopardizes the overall health of the nation, with a particular adverse impact on youths and that ABS Radio, programme NDLEA and YOU as an influential source of information, bears a substantial responsibility in combating drug abuse. It was therefore recommended, among others, that media organizations should intensify their public awareness campaigns through various means such as organizing dramas, symposiums, and lectures within the community.

The avalanche of data on the Internet indicates that adolescents are likely to be influenced by online information on fast food. This study examined how exposure to online information induces dietary behaviour change among adolescents of Awka South, Anambra State. The study examined two theories: Health Belief Model that explains health behaviour and possible reasons for non-compliance with recommended health actions, and uses-and-gratifications approach which examines why and how people actively seek out particular media to satisfy specific needs. The study adopted a survey of 400 respondents using Cochran sample determination technique. The questionnaire was the instrument for data collection. Findings of the study showed that online wellness information induces dietary behaviour change and increased exposure to negative information about a product reduces the chances of its continued consumption.

This issue got to an intolerable height in 1989 when over 150 children died as a result of ingesting paracetamol syrup containing diethylene glycol. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) was formed in 1993, as an agency under the Nigerian federal ministry of health, to check the tide of fake drugs and adulterated products. To achieve this mission, NAFDAC, in 2010, launched the Mobile Authentication Service (MAS)-a mobile-phone m-Health platform, which empowers medication drug users to instantaneously verify the authenticity or otherwise of a medication drug before purchase. This study sought to ascertain the workability of MAS among medication drug users; and factors negating this platform. The study was designed as a survey. Data was collected from 400 medication drug users in Lagos state, Nigeria, through a structured survey. Results show that 91 percent of the respondents were aware of MAS and 53 percent among these utilized it prior to purchasing medication drugs, while 9 percent were neither aware of MAS nor utilize it. The notable barriers to the use of MAS found in this study were lack of awareness and the unreliable nature of the MAS.

The Internet plays host to different shades of information and opinions. Since the suggestion of HIV as the cause of AIDS by Dr. Robert Gallo in the early 80s and the counter position by notable virologist, Dr Peter Duesberg, that HIV cannot cause AIDS, there have been issues around HIV & AIDS. One of such issues is AIDS denialismthe opinion held by some medical experts, professionals and organizations that HIV is not the cause of AIDS. Today, unlike years before, this opinion finds a free course on the Internet; with the potential for followership. This study, therefore, sought to determine whether Nigerian university students (classified in this study as youths) were exposed to Internet-mediated AIDS denialist arguments; and whether being exposed was a determinant influence on their AIDS beliefs. A survey was conducted among a sample of 398 university students drawn from five universities in southeast Nigeria. Findings show that exposure to AIDS denialism on the Internet was a major predictor of AIDS beliefs and response to HIV & AIDS communication among 30% (n=118) of the university students that were studied. Though no generalization, beyond the sample utilized, was intended, this figure was deemed significant enough to warrant broader studies along the line of the investigated theme, for wider generalizations.
