On 28 January 2019 the patient presented thrombocytopenia—5,000 platelets/mm3—and petechiae on the dorsal and ventral regions, and also an extensive acute cervical hematoma. Treatment consisted of sequential administration of platelet biotherapy to stimulate platelet production and Phosphorus to check bleeding, as well as 2 doses of Lachesis muta also to control bleeding. The patient was followed up until 04/17/2019, the progression demonstrating the efficacy of homeopathic medicines for treatment of severe thrombocytopenia, without causing any side effect.

Additionally, the Antimonium crudum has used in dogs bearing leishmaniosis, according to the similia principle. We studied the inflammatory and immune modulation by thymulin 5CH and Antimonium crudum 30CH treatment in mice experimentally inoculated with Leishmania (L.) amazonensis. Male adult Balb/c mice were inoculated with Leishmania (2x105 promastigotes) into the footpad to induce inflammatory response and peritoneum and spleen cells were evaluated by flow cytometry after 60 days. Animals were divided in 3 groups (n=10): thymulin 5cH, Antimonium crudum 30cH and vehicle /control. Treatment was made in blind, daily, in water/alcohol 30% diluted 1:2500 in drinking water, during all experimental period. CD11b (activated phagocytes and B1 cells), CD19 (B1 cells and B2), CD4 and CD8 (effective T lymphocytes) markers were used to identify immune cells subsets in periton...

Aware of the efficacy limits of existing antidepressant drugs and the potential anti-inflammatory properties of propentofylline, we sought to evaluate the use of propentofylline as a depression treatment. We used a rat model of depression induced by repetitive lipopolysaccharide (LPS) administrations. We have studied sickness behavior, by assessing daily body weight, open field behavior, and TNF-α plasmatic levels. Anxiety-like behavior (light-dark test), depressive-like behavior (forced swim test), plasmatic levels of the brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF, depression biomarker), and central glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) expression (an astrocyte biomarker) were also evaluated. LPS induced body weight loss, open field behavior impairments (decreased locomotion and rearing, and increased immobility), and increased TNF-α levels in rats, compared with control group. Thus...

In snakes, it is common to observe low frequencies of reproduction. Ovulation is related to follicular size and morphology, and follicle homogeneity may indicate the absence of problems such as dystocia (egg retention) or follicular stasis. Objective The objective of the present study was to report on follicular stage changes in two ball pythons, Python regius (Shaw, 1802), which were treated using Folliculinum 6cH in a zoological park setting. Methods Two female pythons – one weighing 2.8 kg, the other weighing 2.5 kg, and neither with a history of reproduction – were examined by ultrasound to enable viewing of ovarian follicles in different phases and sizes. Folliculinum 6cH, two globules diluted in 200 mL of water, was administered, targeted to the eyes and nostril regions. Results Even given the slow metabolism of reptiles, ultrasound reveal...

Escherichia coli is the most important etiological agent of neonatal and post weaning diarrhea in swine colibacillosis and the greater impact of the disease in pigs. The demand of consumers seeking meat without chemical residues and the prohibition of the use of antibiotics and chemotherapeutics in swine production has led to seek an alternative medicine for preventive and therapeutic treatments in swine breeding. This study was carried out in a commercial farm in São Paulo state. Stool samples were collected from five piglets presenting diarrhea and examined for the presence of Escherichia coli. Concomitantly, a detailed interview was done with the owner, about all clinical information useful to choose the best homeopathic medicine, using repertory method. Subsequently, four groups were formed consisting of 11-12 piglets each: a control group (antimicrobial u...

Methods: This long term study has been developed in a swine farm (Mato Grosso, Brazil), in which 93 piglets were studied and 184 fecal samples were evaluated in two steps, with the aim to search the presence of Escherichia coli and to prepare a specific biotherapic medicine. Each step had one year of interval each other. Concurrently, for each step, a detailed anamnesis was made for choosing the ideal homeopathic medication for each step (Phosphorus 30 CH and Pulsatilla 30 CH, respectively). In e...

Diarrhea has become an economically important disease in pigs due to intensive management system ... more Diarrhea has become an economically important disease in pigs due to intensive management system which has been used.
