This paper examined family relationship and bullying behaviour among secondary school students with disabilities in Ogbomoso South, Oyo State, Nigeria. The research design employed for this study was descriptive method of the correlational survey type. The population for this study comprises all secondary school students with disabilities in Ogbomoso South, Oyo State. Two questionnaires were used to collect the necessary data. Bullying Prevalence Questionnaire (BPQ) was adopted from Rigby and Slee (1994). To measure family relationship, the instrument in this section was adopted from Nuhu (2013). Percentage was used to answer the research questions, while Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) statistical technique was used to test the generated hypothesis. The finding of this study revealed that majority of the respondents' family relationship was negative. The finding also revealed that majority of the respondents bullying behaviour was low. Also, the finding of this study revealed that there is a significant relationship between family relationship and bullying behaviour among secondary school students with disabilities in Ogbomoso South, Oyo State, Nigeria. It was recommended that for bullying to be reduced, the Ministry of Education is responsible for the welfare of people and their development.

Depression is a common mental disorder that presents with depressed mood, loss of interest or pleasure, feelings of guilt or low self-worth, disturbed sleep or appetite and poor concentration. This study investigated the manifestations of depression among undergraduates of universities in Kwara State. It also examined the influence of religious affiliation and level of study on undergraduates' responses. Survey design was adopted for this study and multi-stage sampling procedure which comprises purposive, proportional, stratified and simple random sampling techniques were adopted to draw a total sample of 600 undergraduates from two universities in Kwara State. " Manifestations of Depression Questionnaire (MDQ) " was used to collect relevant data. The instrument yielded a test re-test reliability coefficient of 0.78. The hypotheses were analysed using t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at 0.05 significance level. Frequency counts and percentages were used to present the demographic data. The findings of the study identified poor school academic performance, avoidance of responsibility and difficulty in day to day tasks, health problems and loss of self-confidence as major manifestations of depression among undergraduates of universities in Kwara State, Nigeria. Emotional intelligence is the basic construct out of which all motivation arises. People with high emotional intelligence have the characteristic of motivating themselves. Students differ in cognitive abilities, with some students being better prepared for the university environment than others. As such, scholars have attempted to find out if emotional intelligence determines students' attitude toward their studies. The present study therefore, investigated the relationship between emotional intelligence and attitude towards examination of undergraduates' at the University of Ilorin. Correlational survey method was employed for the study. The study showed that there is low level of emotional intelligence among University of Ilorin undergraduates. Majority of the respondents have negative attitude towards examination. The result revealed that there was a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and attitude towards examination. Also, it revealed that emotional intelligence has significant correlation with gender (r = 0.203, p<0.05), which implies that gender plays a significant role in the emotional intelligence of undergraduates. Emotional intelligence also has a correlation with age (r = 0.073, p<0.05). This implies that age of undergraduates also plays a significant role in their emotional intelligence. Attitude towards examination had a correlation with age (r = 0.086, p<0.05). This implies that age of the undergraduates plays a significant role in influencing an individual's attitude toward examinations. Based on these findings, it was recommended; among others, that counsellors and lecturers assist students in determining the appropriate emotional intelligence as this would help them to develop positive attitude towards examination.

There is an increase in the rate of cohabitation among the youth especially tertiary institution students. Youth engages in cohabitation without necessarily thinking about the consequences. Studies especially in Nigeria presume that cohabitation will impact marital stability yet the impact of cohabitation to the best of the researchers knowledge are yet to be empirically investigated. Thus, this paper focused on examining the influence that premarital cohabitation has on subsequent marital stability as expressed by literate married adults in Ilorin Metropolis. A total number of 300 literate married adults participated in the study. Hence, 300 copies of the questionnaire forms were administered to randomly selected respondents across the metropolis. The data collected were subjected to descriptive and inferential statistics of percentages, mean score, t-test and Analysis of Variance. The findings revealed negative impact of premarital cohabitation on stability of marriage. Variables such as age, gender and educational qualification were also found to affect respondents' views on how premarital union impact stability of marriage. It is therefore recommended that counsellors should enlighten the youth regarding the negative impact that cohabitation preceding marriage has on stability of subsequent marriage.

Youth restiveness is one of the popular tragedies of the 21st century with much consequence on the individual, group and communities. The phenomenon has brought a lot of threat on security and corporate existence of Nigeria as a nation. This study therefore investigated perceived solutions to youth restiveness by guidance counsellors in Kwara State, Nigeria. The descriptive survey method was adopted for the study. A total of 145 respondents were purposively selected across learning institutions in the state. A researcher–developed instrument titled " Perceived Solutions to Youth Restiveness Questionnaire (PSYRQ) " was used to collect the data for the study. The instrument possessed a reliability coefficient of 0.74. Two research questions and three null hypotheses were formulated for the study. The measure of central tendency and t-test statistics were used to analyze the data. All hypotheses were tested at 0.05 levels of significance. The results revealed that acquiring and the use of assertiveness skills by youths was perceived as the major solution to youth restiveness while the major category of solutions is the youth-related. There was significant difference between married and single respondents in their perception of solutions to youth restiveness. It was recommended that counsellors should organize programmes where youths can be trained in assertiveness skill.

Bullying is the most common form of violence in schools. The current study examined the relationship between school climate and bullying behaviour among secondary school students in Yagba West, Kogi State, Nigeria. The research design employed for this study was a descriptive research method of the correlational survey type. The target population consisted of all SSS II secondary school students in Yagba West of Kogi State. Simple random sampling technique was used to select 300 students as sample for the study. Questionnaire was used to collect relevant data. Frequency counts and percentage were used to describe the demographic characteristics of the respondents. Also, summated mean rating was used to answer the research questions, while the Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) and the t-test statistical tools were used to test the formulated hypotheses. Finding revealed that there was a significant relationship between school climate and bullying behaviour among secondary school students in Yagba West of Kogi State. Another, finding revealed that there was no significant difference in the bullying behaviour of secondary schools students in Yagba West of Kogi State based on gender. Hence, it was recommended that School management should create a conducive environment for students to feel safe and victims of bullying should be encouraged to report and not to stereotyped. Stress refers to pressure, tension or worries arising from problematic situations in an individual's life, this study investigates stress and coping techniques of female bank staff in Kogi State, Nigeria. The research design adopted for this study is the descriptive survey. A total of 586 respondents were randomly selected from various banks in Kogi state, Nigeria. And were given copies of the stress and coping techniques of female bankers in Kogi State, questionnaire to fill, the questionnaire which was patterned after a Four-point Likert Type scoring procedure format. The data which emanated from the respondents was analysed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The result showed that when a female bank staff is being transferred to other branches far from home, competition among colleagues and many deadlines to meet were the sources of stress and eating of adequate balance diet, taking out time to visit a friend and doing periodic health checkup as the coping techniques of female bank staff. It was recommended that the banks management should endeavour to employ more staff probably on part-time basis to ease the target set for the staff, counselling unit should also be provided in the banking industry to help the staff and management in understanding stress and how to cope with it. Counsellors in the banking sector could equip the staff with stress reduction techniques or strategies and how to adjust working between conditions in banks. Married staff most especially the women should be exempted from spending long hours at work.

The aftermath of unemployment is a great concern for researchers as the coping strategies are farfetched therefore, this study investigated the coping strategies of unemployed youths in Kwara State, Nigeria. The influence of variables such as gender, highest educational level and age were also examined. Quantitative research design was adopted for this study, while descriptive survey was also adopted as a research method for this study. Random and purposive sampling techniques were used to draw a total sample of 600. Coping Strategies of Unemployed Youths Questionnaire (CSUYQ) " was used to collect relevant data. The instrument was subjected to test re-test reliability coefficient which yielded 0.68 and the hypotheses tested were analyzed using t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at 0.05 level of significance. Frequency counts and percentages were used to describe the demographic data. The study revealed that the coping strategies employed by unemployed youths include dependent on parents, attending vocational training workshops, engaging in casual labour etc. The research hypotheses tested revealed no significant difference in the coping strategies of unemployed youths in Kwara State based on educational qualification while there was a significant difference based on gender and age. In line with the findings of the study, it was recommended that Nigerian government should design more vocational programmes and revitalize the existing ones, provide takeoff grants for unemployed youths to establish businesess, invest in, re-tool and re-engineer the farming system with modernized implements to accommodate large percentage of unemployed youths.

ABSTRACT: Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study and a researcher-designed questionnaire tagged PFRQ (Predisposing Factors of Recidivism Questionnaire) was used to obtain relevant information. Multi-stage sampling technique was adopted to select 250 prison officers from all the five prison centers in Kwara State, Nigeria. Findings showed that prison officers perceived factors, such as non-availability of employment opportunities for ex-convicts, problem of where to start a new life after release from prison among others. The results, further, revealed significant difference in predisposing factors of recidivism as perceived by prison officers based on years in service, but no significant difference was found based on gender. This research investigated the influence of single parenting on emotional development of primary school students as viewed by Nigerian primary school teachers. A descriptive survey designed was adopted to draw 200 primary school teachers. One research question was raised and three null hypotheses were respectively postulated to guide the research at 0.05 level of significance. In addition, data analysis was done using t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Furthermore, the findings revealed that low self-esteem was the most influencing emotional development of primary school students in Ilorin metropolis. The findings also revealed that there was no significant difference in the influence of single parenting on the emotional development of primary school students in terms of gender and qualification. Recidivism is a growing problem in the world – in Nigeria and Kwara State inclusive. Therefore, this study investigated solutions to recidivism as perceived by prison officers in Kwara State. The contributions of moderating variables of gender, religion and years in service were also investigated. Descriptive research design was adopted for the study. The population comprised all the prison officers estimated at 615 in Kwara State. The study examined the influence of parenting styles on social adjustment and academic achievement of adolescents in selected secondary schools in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State. Two hundred and forty secondary school students participated in the study. The sample of students was selected from eight secondary schools in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State. Descriptive survey design was used to execute the study. Data were collected through questionnaires and achievement test. The data were analysed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The study showed that there is significant difference in social adjustment of adolescents from autocratic, democratic and permissive parenting homes. It revealed that adolescents from democratic homes adjust better in social situations than their counterparts from autocratic and permissive homes. The study also showed significant differences in academic achievement of adolescents from autocratic, democratic and permissive parenting homes. It revealed that democratic style of parenting influence academic performance more positively better than autocratic and permissive parenting style.
