The difficulties these vulnerable groups face in meeting educational needs are documented in numerous studies. Although Romania experienced mainly transit migration, it is recently becoming a destination for refugees and irregular migrants. Most people entering the country are young or minors, and access to education is crucial for their economic future and a successful integration process. The present paper primarily explores the challenges and difficulties asylum seekers and people with refugee backgrounds experience in accessing educational services in Romania. It is framed within an interpretive paradigm using qualitative interviews with asylum seekers, people with refugee backgrounds, and NGO representatives to collect data. This exploratory research is designed on thematic analysis: four themes and eight subthemes were identified, capturing participants’ percep...

Both Sighişoara and Vama Veche are two destinations which are going through major changes concerning the transition from mass-tourism to alternative tourism. One of the main directions in this respect is event tourism, represented these two important festivals on the Romanian market. The event tourist is different, special a symbol of the contemporary sophistication.

Refugees often face difficulties when trying to meet their needs and access essential services. This study aims to explore the experiences and barriers of asylum seekers and people with refugee backgrounds in accessing healthcare services in Romania. It is an exploratory study with a qualitative research design, which uses an inductive and deductive approach, with thematic analysis being applied in order to grasp the difficulties and barriers that asylum seekers and people with refugee backgrounds experience in accessing essential social services. The research was based on seven in-depth interviews with representatives of significant national or international non-governmental organisations assisting refugees and asylum seekers in Romania and 129 semi-structured interviews with different cat...

They function as a barrier between the sacred family space from inside the household and the space and potential dangers from outside it. Traditional wooden gates have been inscribed with specic elements, thus functioning simultaneously as a household utility and conserving a common identity through their symbolism. Szekely gates represent a lesserknown and studied element of ethnocultural heritage, although the area where they are located has been in the last few years and will probably continue to be a very dynamic and sought after tourism destination. The wooden Székely gates, found in areas inhabited by this ethnic minority, represent a true accumulation of both Romanian and Székely rituals and symbols. The aim of the study is to highlight the importance of the gates for the traditional ethnographic heritage of this ethnic minority with real implications for the development of local cultural and heritage tourism. The objectives of the study consist in identifying the main areas of distribution for Székely gates in Transylvania, the signicance of their main symbols and the level of their current national and international promotion. The research methodology included direct observations, GIS techniques, and eld investigations. The results of this exploratory study show the location of the traditional Székely gates and their diversity, and the coexistence of a Romanian symbolism with one that is exclusively local through specic motifs and colours. This diversity and coexistence of symbols gives the possibility of inserting Székely gates as added cultural values into an already visible and viable tourism area.

It also represents a variable functioning within conditions of population aging, especially in developing countries. An analysis of what family means must consider all the factors that influence it both structurally and in terms of size. The main objectives were to identify the perception of fertile-aged women about the notion of family and to measure its possible influence on the target group’s demographic behavior. The inquiry method was part of the research methodology with 499 face-to-face, semi-structured interviews done of a sample size population (women aged 15 to 49) living in Bucharest, Romania and supplemented by an SPSS analysis of the data gathered. This paper aims to identify possible ecological restoration models for the Danube floodplain according to the principles of sustainable development and the needs of the population living and working here. The research methodology included direct field observation, GIS techniques, and the survey method. The analysis proved the need for achieving the ecological restoration of this area while ensuring a harmonious relationship between nature and economic activities. After evaluating the views of local decision-making actors, different groups of stakeholders with divergent opinions emerged. While owners of agricultural holdings and agriculture experts pleaded for maintaining the status quo, NGOs voted for complete ecological restoration, and landowners with small farms, local authorities’ representat...

The paper examines the role of the contemporary museum taking into consideration the current sophistication of the visitor, his new behaviour, and expectancies. Issues such as addressability, interactivity, the involvement of museum visitors and staff were taken into consideration when considering the relationship between cultural institutions and their audience. The discussion is based on the analysis of the perception of the Romanian museum visitors, highlighting the urge for a change in the field.

The entire methodological approach aims to explain the relationship between the method, the assessment tools and the purpose and objectives of the evaluation. The detailed analysis highlights the correlation between the learning outcomes, the assessment objectives and the specific competencies based on a case study: the "Geography of tourism" subject. The study could serve as a model for improvement of the evaluation system, due to the fact that these tools enable the evaluator to develop a set of remedial measures aimed at optimising the educational process. Moreover, the tools, the analysis and the interpretation techniques presented in this paper contribute to the objective understanding of the level of acquired knowledge, as well as to the assessment of the capabilities and practical skills gained by the students along the way. Introduction A correct approach for evaluation and examination aims at highlighting the efficiency and the overall performance of the educational process. The main purpose of the evaluation strategy is to improve the educational process in the direction chosen by the one that designs and applies it. In the academic field, due to the specificity of the educational activities, the evaluation strategy chosen is also a tool for monitoring the educational progress. This gives the professor the possibility of making an objective analysis, based on the existence of clear evaluation criteria, developed and mentioned in advance.

The Night of Bucharest Museums has initially been a quite isolated, museum focussed and rather individualistic event which has progressively developed over the past ten years into a cultural process involving several cultural institutions. Among the institutions involved in this growing event museums are still predominant but not sole. Most of the participant members into the event have developed complex and dynamic programmes comprising sections of joint institutional events mostly having to do with exposing the public to local culture. This brief comparative analysis of this progressive event development identifies changes to the extent and with particular regard to the cultural dimension of it in close connection to the potential of local tourism development. This paper is mainly attempting to answer the question regarding to what extent the public of such event has become tourist. The paper also aims to focus on more specific aspects and issues concerning the main aim by sketching a brief overview regarding the attitudes and perceptions of people regularly attending an event such the European Night of Museums in Bucharest. The paper attempts to determine the profile of participant to such event trying to identify the trends of this event on the Romanian wider market but particularly on the tourism market given the fact that museum visitor are mostly tourists. The study is making use of data collected during 2013 and 2014 editions of the event. The final aim of the paper is to emphasise issues regarding the wider concept of motivation in visiting museums and how they are linked with the cultural dimension of tourism, highlighting several difficulties faced by a multitude of institutions and how these are attempting to use tourism to overcome problematic situations.
