Steve Johnston
My research interests lie mainly in early Church history, with an emphasis on all the known Gnostic literature and the heresiological accounts against the Gnostics. I'm working on a new French translation of the Pistis Sophia of the Askew Codex (British Library Additional 5114).
My PhD research is essentially a comparative study of all the attestations of the so-called vain claim of the Archon (I'm God and there is no one besides me) that we find in heresiological and Gnostic literature.
My master's thesis is a historical and literary analysis of the Apocryphal Correspondence between Paul and the Corinthians (Third Corinthians).
Supervisors: Paul-Hubert Poirier and Louis Painchaud
