"This series of photographs do justice to the mathematics within our universe. They merely exist to offer a whisper or a glance - to both the unsuspecting and the suspecting audience. Sublimity and gaze have long been conversation within the art world. The words are hardly used in mathematics. I...

Math activities using natural materials just feel nicer! I really don’t like cutesy plastic bear pieces and similar items as manipulatives, they just don’t offer the same tactile experiences that reinforce math for hands-on learners, in my opinion. If you feel the same, then you’re going to love this collection of ideas. There are so

Fractal vegetable. More Natural Spirals. Energy in Form! Gem Corn, Romanesco Broccoli, Fractals In Nature, Spirals In Nature, Macro Photography Tips, Photography Ideas At Home, Geometry In Nature, Creation Art, Fractal Patterns

Its a Romanesco broccoli up close and fractal. Just like a sunflower heart, it is a true example of mathematics in nature. I think it is a striking vegetable - I crave novelty in food, so bought two for a Sunday roast. I steamed them lightly and served them naked, unfettered by cheese sauce. No bugger touched them. Had the lot meself. I smelled faintly rancid for a week.

I was curious, so I analyzed the geometry of the peacock's tail-feather display. Turns out the shape is a symmetrical phyllotaxis, which is somewhat surprising. Most phyllotaxis patterns in nature (like on pinecones, pineapples and sunflowers) have spirals of adjacent Fibonacci numbers (usually 5, 8, 13 or 21), but the peacock's feathers have the same count of spirals in both directions!
