The area of research that catches her attention focuses on Economy of Tourism, more specifically on Consumer Behaviour. In what concerns teaching, the researcher teaches the following course units: Models of Competitiveness in Tourist Destinations - the perspective of consumers (PhD Programme in Tourism), Consumer Behaviour – Tourism Demand (Masters in Management of Tourism Organizations, Masters in Management and Development of Tourism Destinations, Masters in Management and Maintenance of Golf Courses), Economy and Microeconomy (Economy and Sociology degrees).
The theory of choice and decision has been used to develop her scientific activity, expressed in scientific publications in international journals. Her recent work focuses on the constructs of decision-making, in particular, motivations, perceptions, expectations, satisfaction and behavioural intentions, which is supported by an exploratory analysis, structural models and discrete choice. The tourist market segmentation, its competitive positioning, golf destinations and golf player’s motivations are also favoured areas of research, with published articles.
Her current research interests are concerned with the application of Consumer Behaviour theories to Tourism, with particular relevance to the issues associated with psycho-social variables that influence the choice/decision, the external factors that affect Consumer Behaviour and its social interactions, risk and uncertainty in Consumer Behaviour and models of destinations choice, motivations and satisfaction, product/destination image, virtual tourism and golf tourism. These interests require the use of a variety of techniques for research, such as exploratory analysis, models of discrete choice and structural and econometric models.
