Olaf Mumm
Olaf Mumm is senior researcher at the Institute for Sustainable Urbanism at TU Braunschweig. He is an architect and urban planner. Olaf studied architecture at the Bauhaus-University Weimar. Building on his many years of work at the Urban INDEX Institute in Darmstadt, he is involved in research and teaching on a wide range of sustainable planning aspects. Olaf has over ten years of experience at the interface between urban planning and design in praxis and research. He has been involved in inter- and transdisciplinary as well as design-based research projects focusing on urban phenomenons, structures and typologies as well as the development of methods and instruments for indicator based urban design and planning. From 2009 to 2014, he worked as a project architect at the Urban INDEX Institute in Darmstadt, where he was involved in a variety of planning tasks in the field of urban development applying innovative integrated into planning processes as well as in the development of an indicator system for sustainable urban development. Prior to that, Olaf Mumm has served as Urban Consultant for the Urban Development Unit of the Swiss Development Cooperation SDC in South-East Asia (based in Hanoi). In 2014 Olaf joined the Institute for Sustainable Urbanism at the Technische Universität Braunschweig and is working on the collaborative research projects such as EAST-CITIES, METAPOLIS, Data4UrbanMobility, OPEN CITY, ISUrF-Hub and exploring in the field of Digital Urbanism at ISU SPACE LAB.
