I was a little worried (and so were several commenters on that post 😅😂) that the blue underglaze would look smeary because I applied it after the cups had already been bisque fired. But I’m happy with how they turned out! Marina Randall on Instagram: "Painting my vessels with clay (slips) is probably my favourite process of making these. I’m often inspired by places I’ve been to or scenes in my memory. I paint on to green ware and apply layers of vitreous slips using different techniques. Although the colours are carefully considered before applied as each one has to be mixed up to the right consistency first- the design and application is spontaneous. I like to capture an element of movement in the brushstroke. After the layers of slip are dryer I may add more layers, scratch, sponge, scr#marinarandallceramics affito some areas before the bisque firing . After that I may apply underglazes, resists and glazes. Watch this space for final firing 😊🌻 #contemporaryart #ceramicart #studioceramics #thrownanda Clay Painting Techniques, Decorating With Slip Pottery, Painting Pottery Techniques, How To Use Underglaze, Slip Decorated Pottery, Slip Ceramics, Slip Design Ceramics, Slip Painting Ceramics, Ceramic Painting Techniques

If you want to see the finished result, I will share it to my story for the first 24 hours that this reel is up! Past that- you can scroll back on my reels page to see it 🫧 🫧I only do this on bisque (water will break down greenware) 🫧Foaming hand soap works better for some reason 🫧 I usually rebisque the pot, then glaze it to avoid smearing the underglaze! Not necessary but it’s what I do! 🫧I have done this with many colors- even white! Just depends what the base of your clay body looks like (dark clay vs light clay) 🫧Despite this technique often being called “bubble glazing” I don’t recommend actual glaze" Bubble Glazing Technique, Underglaze On Bisque, Bubble Glazing Pottery, Pottery Bubble Glaze, Bubble Glaze Technique, Bubble Glaze Pottery, Bubble Glazing, Underglaze Techniques, Glaze Techniques

Jonah Harjer on Instagram: "More underglazes on these pattern mugs today. // The greenish blue underglaze on this mug has been bisque fired on. After that I applied an orange underglaze wash and through trial and error I have learned that when I apply an underglaze wash on top of another underglaze it's pretty much going to look exactly the way it does now when it comes out of the kiln later. // I wasn't super happy with the way the orange looked inside the recessed areas of the stamp so I decided to add some sour Apple mayco stroking coat so that the recessed areas will be glossy glaze and the rest of the mug will be velvety. // Hopefully these come out good as I don't have a lot of experience with maycos brand. I love experimenting and so either way I will definitely win or learn Amaco Velvet Underglazes, Underglaze Designs, Amaco Glaze Layering Snow, Underglaze Pencil, Ceramic Underglaze Pencils, Underglaze Vs Glaze, Greenish Blue, Glaze, That Look

DJ Does Pottery on Instagram: "Bubble glazing 🫧

Bubble glazing is a technique that creates a textured, bubbly surface on pottery.

Materials Needed: Bisqued pottery piece, underglaze, soap, water, cup, straw

Step 1: make sure the piece is clean by wiping it down with a damp sponge to remove any dust or debris.

Step 2: mix underglaze, soap, and a bit of water into a uniform solution.

Step 3: blow bubbles into the solution using a straw, letting the bubbles overflow over the cup and onto the piece. Set it aside and let the bubble magic happen. The bubbles will pop on their own.

Step 4: Let the underglaze dry by a fan. When dry, dip in clear glaze.

Shawna Pincus on Instagram: "Printing fields of Poppies for February! I’m using my gelli plate and @smalldogprints silk screen to transfer my drawing of a poppy field onto this cup. The cup is already fired once (bisque) and has a coat of raw glaze applied to the part I’m printing on. I use thickened underglaze to print(nothing added, just left to evaporate). I’ll paint into the poppies with watered down underglaze and finish glazing with a pop of color on the base. Then into the kiln for another firing before it’s ready for a final sanding, wash and photo session. Jolene Hewison on Instagram: "Underglaze is a fantastic product to use for decorating your ceramics. I use on greenware and usually with the Sgraffito method, though you can also use on bisque-ware. Here are a few tips you may not know 😊 1. If the lid is stuck like mine get in hot weather, simply hold upside down in water for a moment 2. Work off the lid as this gives you better opportunity to get the right amount on the brush & you are less likely to knock over the whole jar! 3. Apply in multiple thin coats. If your underglaze has thickened, simply add a little water and shake For in depth information on the way I decorate with underglaze, please check out my original and flagship course, ‘Creative Clay & Introducing Sgraffito’ available now via the link in my bio. #ceramics Underglaze On Greenware, Sgraffito With Underglaze, Underglaze Watercolor, Mayco Underglaze, Underglaze Painting On Pottery, Sgraffito, In Depth, Hot Weather, Upside Down
