Employing a qualitative, phenomenological approach, the study involved in-depth, semi-structured interviews with 10-15 mothers within six weeks postpartum at selected hospitals in Chennai, focusing on their emotional experiences, coping strategies, and challenges, while ensuring ethical considerations such as informed consent and confidentiality. The analysis revealed five key themes: the emotional impact of Caesarean delivery, the influence of physical recovery on mental health, the effects of C-section on mother-infant bonding, the role of support systems, and the impact of cultural and societal pressures, all contributing significantly to PPD. The findings underscore the need for tailored support systems that provide emotional and practical assistance, while also addressing cultural and societal pressures to enhance the mental health and well-being of C-section mothers, ultimately leading to more effective strategies in postpartum care.

The key applications of mHealth in developing countries are education and awareness, remote data collection, remote monitoring, communication and training for healthcare workers, disease and epidemic outbreak tracking and diagnostic and treatment support 1. Aim and objectives: 1.To assess the knowledge and perception of mhealth applications among nurses. 2.To correlate knowledge and perception of mhealth applications among nurses. 3. To associate the demographic variables with knowledge and perception of mhealth applications among nurses. Methodology: A Quantitative-evaluative study was conducted among 50 nurses at selected settings in Chennai. A non-probability convenient sampling technique was used. Data was collected online using a self-reported questionnaire, through a Google form. A survey link was sent to the respondents, via email and WhatsApp groups. Result: The findings indicated that 48% of nurses had poor knowledge and 44% had a low perception of mHealth. The correlation coefficient value, r = 0.435, revealed that there was a positive correlation between knowledge and perception at a p<0.01 level of significance. There was no statistically significant association of knowledge and perception with demographic variables. Conclusion: mHealth is now used in the nursing field to reduce the time nurses spend on other tasks, such as writing reports or making medication rounds. There are a lot of positive outcomes from using mHealth.

It is the method barely practiced in the present-day obstetrics for saving the lives of women and their newborn. The aim of this study is to determine the indications of caesarean section among postnatal mothers at the selected setting, Chennai. Objectives: 1. To identify the indications of caesarean section among primi and multi para postnatal mothers. 2. To associate the demographic variables of primi para caesarean section mothers with multi para postnatal mothers. 3. To associate the indications & non indications of caesarean section with primi and multi para postnatal mothers. Materials and Methods: A quantitative non-experimental comparative analysis style was used to identify the indications of caesarean section. 200 individuals were chosen through the non-probability purposive sampling technique and data was collected using a structured questionnaire. Result: The leading indications of primi and multi para CS were previous caesarean section 35 (17.5%), Malpresentation 34 (17%), CPD 26 (13.0%), failed acceleration 19 (9.5%), placenta praevia 16 (8%), foetal distress 15 (7.5%) and MAS 10 (5%) and the least indication were cord around the neck and postdated pregnancy 1 (0.5%) respectively. With regard to demographic variables, there was a statistically significant association between age in years and type of caesarean section at p<0.05 level. Conclusion: The predominant cause for caesarean sections is previous LSCS irrespective of second normal pregnancy. On that account, it is mandatory to gauge the antenatal mothers at the initial checkup and recommence at the intranatal level to stave off from any unforeseen emergencies.

To our information, a study to assess the prevalence of COVID-19 vaccine acceptance among pregnant mothers. Therefore, the objective of this study was to assess the prevalence of COVID-19 vaccine acceptance among pregnant mothers attending prenatal care. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted. Non probability purposive sampling technique was chosen to select 165 study participants. The questionnaire contained: sociodemographic characteristic of the study respondents, knowledge, practice of the study respondents on COVID-19 preventive measures, and intention of COVID-19 vaccine acceptance among pregnant women. A structured interview was used to collect the data. Data were entered into excel sheet and exported to SPSS for analysis. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were used. Results: The COVID-19 vaccine acceptance was found to be 92%. Majority (47.2%) of mothers had adequate knowledge and 70.3% had good practice towards COVID-19 and its preventive measures. Conclusion: COVID-19 vaccine acceptance was found to be 92%. Maternal age (25-33) years, secondary maternal educational status, good knowledge, and good practice of pregnant mothers towards COVID-19 and its preventive measures were factors associated with COVID-19 vaccine acceptance. Health care providers should provide health education to pregnant mothers to increase their knowledge about the diseases and disseminate leaflets regarding COVID-19 preventive measures. Moreover, before initiation of COVID-19 vaccine administration to pregnant mothers they must promote the protection and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccine.

Nursing students should be updated by providing training and asking them about the difficulties faced at their health centre. A non-randomized quasi-experimental-one group pretest and post-test design was chosen for the study. Using non-Probability convenient sampling technique 125 General Nursing (DGNM) & BSC Nursing final year students were selected as samples. Knowledge consisted of 35 multiple-choice questions. Partograph was used as a tool for Skill assessment. A scenario was given to each student and asked the students to mark in the partograph. In the pretest 83% of the students had inadequate knowledge whereas in post-test 69% had moderately adequate knowledge and 43% had adequate knowledge. In the pretest 84% of the students had inadequate skill whereas in post-test 84% had adequate skill. there was a significant increase in knowledge & skill of the students regarding partograph after their exposure to the self-instructional module on partograph. There was a positive correlation between knowledge & skill on partograph at r = 0.65 which were significant at p<0.05 level of significance. There was a statistically significant association between the post-test knowledge of the students with the demographic variables namely age & educational qualification at p <0.05 & skill of the students with the demographic variables namely educational qualification at p <0.05.

Menstruation is monthly uterine bleeding for 3-5 days after every 28 days from puberty till menopause. A change in mood, behaviour, appearance of some abnormal vague symptoms is often noticed in the second half of the cycle. Symptoms are severe enough to disturb the life cycle of a woman called premenstrual syndrome (PMS). The study aimed to assess the premenstrual symptoms and coping strategies among adolescent girls. The majority of the students suffered from premenstrual syndrome. Objective: to assess the premenstrual symptoms and coping strategies among adolescent girls. Methodology: A nonexperimental descriptive research design was adopted in this study. Non probability convenient sampling technique was used to select the sample size of 30 adolescent girls. The assessment of premenstrual symptoms and coping strategies was carried out using a self-reported Likert's rating scale. Data was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Result: Majority (93.3%) of the samples sometimes had physiological and psychological problems, 90% of them had behavioural symptoms. Majority (43.3%) of the samples always followed coping strategies and 16.7% of the samples sometimes followed coping strategies and 40% never followed any coping strategies. Conclusion: PMS was common among students at 18-24 years. The most common physical symptoms experienced by adolescent girls were headache, backache and lower abdominal pain. Adolescent girls used coping strategies as taking hot / cold drinks, do not express anger to others, and turn to study and forget things, hearing music and taking medications.
