Colour Crazy Challenge - Week 25 - Blog Candy

It's time for a new Colour Crazy challenge and the theme, as always is

Anything Goes

This week we don't have a sponsor for the challenge but there is some blog candy on offer for the lucky winner!

I've used a no longer available Kenny K image, coloured with Promarkers and then added to the large numbers which are my own templates, using papers from Dovecraft - Back to Basics 3 which I've had to paper piece together as the stack was only 6x6.

I've added liquid pearl dots around the edges of the numbers and also on the banners plus half pearls here and there.  Sentiment has been cut with Clearly Besotted dies.  Good luck with the challenge!  I'd like to enter the following:

Chalkboard Birthday

A quick card which actually took quite a while as I couldn't get the bow to look right.  I've used a free  chalkboard download I found on the internet, printed it onto linen effect white card, trimmed it, leaving a white border and then layered it onto hot pink card and then again onto black card from my stash.

The ribbon is from my stash and actually matches the layered card although the photo colour doesn't show that.  Shoe charm from my stash.

It's time for a Polkadoodle Challenge!  The theme is:

Anything Goes

I made a Birthday card for my Mum using papers from the Twiggy and Toots cd and added inks around the edges plus a faux stitched line with a black fineliner pen.  The chocolate satin ribbon is from my stash and I've coloured some cheap chipboard letters with Promarkers after covering them with paper (couldn't colour directly onto the chipboard!)

And to finish I've added some half pearls, again from my stash!  Good luck with the challenge!  For more details and inspiration pop over to the blog!

Polkadoodle Challenge - Birthday!

To continue with the Polkadoodle Birthday celebrations, the current challenge is:

Birthday

I've used the very cute Winston Bear Birthday and coloured it up with Promarkers.  I've made a he into a she for this card to celebrate a first Birthday!  The card is for one of my cousins as its her daughter's birthday soon.  And Winston is so versatile!  I have a feeling that this is going to be one of those digi stamps that I use time and time again - it's on my favourite list!  Papers are from Work and Play 10.

I've used my own template for the large number, layered it onto white card and glittered the edge.  Bunting is from scraps of printed card with vellum overlay and half pearls.  Sentiment cut with Girls are Weird Sizzix letters and then also glittered.

I'd like to enter the following:

Polkadoodles Challenge - Week 31 - More Than One Fold

There is a new Polkadoodle challenge and the theme for the fortnight is:

More Than One Fold

I've made a stepper card and converted it into a number of layers - using the Work and Play 3 download for the man relaxing and the caravan.  I've used Promarkers to colour then added my own handwritten banners plus the bunting.

The grass is a Marianne Creatables die and I've used a Cuttlebug die for the bunting letters.  Various wooden sticks and cocktail sticks have been used to hold up the sentiments.

Good luck with the challenge - pop over to the blog for more details!

Birthday Chick

Here I am again! I've had a productive craft day today - husband and Samuel were out karting today, using the older engines and trying out some different 'things' to give Samuel more speed. He had a race last weekend and did pretty well despite the grid being huge and he not being used to so many on the track at the same time; he's got a race next weekend and then for the next 6 weekends...... and not all within the North West either. So, its just been me and Jacob today. He's been playing on the pc or wii or watching tv (well, it is the Easter holidays!) and I've been crafting.

Usually, I colour my images and then they sit around sometimes for weeks or months waiting to be made into something. However today, I've coloured and made cards as I've gone along. I've still got a few other projects on the go so been progressing them too - waiting for glue to dry etc.

Anyway, here is a fab From The Heart Stamps image - Birthday Chicks which I've coloured with Promarkers plus a little bit of stickles (I coloured this whilst half watching an old episode of Fraiser!)

Used a Cuttlebug embossing folder on some offcuts of card (same as cardblank) plus bakers twine, ribbon and some half pearls. Plus a bit of stickles. Another card ticked off the card order list!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

From The Heart Stamps: Sketch followed
Crafty Calendar: Things With Wings
Suzy Bee's Blooming Challenge: Anything Goes
Crafty Catz: Animals

Typically British

Imagine the scene; husbands' Birthday is fast approaching and I still think its mid February (I know, I've only had a year to remember) and I need to make a card. Something that will make him smile and fondly remember the 'good old days' when he had his very own Mini.

And better still, the digi is a cheapie and only a quid! Buy nnow from Dr Digi!

I've used Promarkers to colour and layered it onto the Union Jack with foam pads - the Union Jack is from the Britannia download from Polkadoodles. A little inking around the edges and the card is complete! And yes, he liked it!

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

One Stitch At A Time: Use A Digi
Pile It On: For A Guy
Crafts Galore Encore: Use A Digi
Digi Galore: Anything Goes

It's My Birthday!

We took Jacob karting this morning to Daytona Manchester - he's not had a session for nearly 4 months and as football season has ended we thought we'd give it a whirl to see how he was after such a long break.

He was in the second of three sessions and set the fastest time in his session.  And for the day.  And it appears that he has set a new lap record too according to his time sheet!

He only managed 20 laps as he got hit quite hard by another driver who it appears (after reviewing the GoPro footage) did not brake when going into the hairpin and slammed into Jacob.  So much so that the chain came off Jacobs kart.  He was fine but rather indignant that he'd been hit!

If you are wondering why his times are a little erratic - he got stuck in traffic and has to wait for two sections on the track where the slower drivers are blue flagged and he can overtake them.  Laps 14 and 15 are almost identical - only 0.002 of a second split!

Quite a nice Birthday present for me!

Polkadoodle Challenge 51 - Happy New Year 2013!

It's time for a new Polkadoodle challenge and the theme this week is:

Happy New Year OR 2013

So you can make something that says Happy New Year or use the numbers 2013 (3 of something etc) and here is my creation!  I've used the fab cupcake template from Paper Boutique Vol 3 cd and printed off the A5 version, cut out all the elements and then layered up with foam pads.

I've glittered parts of the cupcake and around the edge of the star with a line of liquid pearl dots around the inner edge.  The stars have been cut with an X Cut die and the number 30 is a Sizzix die which I've added to some wire so they boing around!

The ribbon I found in my stash and it was a perfect colour match!  I made this for my cousin who was 30 over the weekend - which makes me feel really old as I remember her being born!!  And she is a real girly girl so will love this card!

Good luck with the challenge - for more details on how to enter and closing times pop over to Polkadoodles!

Quick 40

This will be a rather quick post as I'm feeling a bit ropey and once again, its been a hectic day!  The card I am sharing (and being part of A Card A Day group - I'm hoping (everything crossed) that I can do all of November and December!!) today is a very quick make and a bargain too!

It's a Ready to Print Square Card kit from The Clip Art Fairy and it was a bargain at 15p!!  But be quick the closing down sale is only on until the end of November.  I've printed it directly onto my linen effect white card (The Papermill), added the sentiment and did a bit of glittering (around the edge of the card and also the number) with some stickles and added three pearls to balance the card.

I've had the pearls for absolute ages and actually forgot I had them as was looking for something else at the time!  So that was a nice surprise!

And another nice surprise for today was that Jacob's football team won their first match of the season this morning!  They've moved indoors (yeah - no more muddy fields and sub-zero temps on a Saturday morning!) and onto astro turf which they train on so they are more used to it.  They won either 9-2 or 10-2 - we're not sure as we were that chuffed they won!!  It's been a long time coming as they are a really good gelled team that pass to each other and have two good goalies (one being Jacob who also plays in defense).

I'd like to enter the following challenges:

365 Day Cards:  Day 253 - Thrift Thursday

Happy Birthday Samuel!

Happy Birthday to my little racing car driver!  Who would have thought 9 years ago that you'd have no fear whilst travelling with your rear a few inches from the tarmac at almost 60 miles an hour!  Perhaps I should have known because you arrived without much warning and at speed!

He has his first ever outdoor race on Sunday (in his own kart too!) so I'm rather hoping its not raining as I don't fancy being wet for 7 hours!  The boys have their own karting blog if you fancy seeing what almost 60 miles per hour looks like a few inches from the tarmac - the link is in my right hand side sidebar!

Happy Birthday Jacob!

My little (well, not so little these days!) man Jacob is 7 today!!  And here he is holding the Fair Play trophy from a recent tournament that his football team Junior Gardeners played in!

It's all go again next Thursday as its Samuel's Birthday!

Polkadoodle Is Three!!!

It's Polkadoodles Third Birthday!! And to celebrate the Design Team have made Birthday cards with an element of three - three papers, three brads - you get the picture!  And if that is not enough, there is a special post on the Polkadoodle blog with a special challenge and you could win a totally fantastic prize!  You'll have to go to the challenge blog to find out more!

I've made a cute and very pink card with three different papers from Sugar Plum Daisy and an image from Sundae of Seasons.  The balloons, letters and numbers are all dies and I've added glossy accents over the number 3.  I've added bakers twine for the balloon strings and three tiny pearls.

Although you can't see it, I've added fake stitching around the edge of the card and dotted a fine black line around the bunting and the balloons.

The card is for my niece Niamh who is three in November - I'll probably have forgotten by then that I've already made a card for her!

Don't forget to enter the challenge to be in with a chance of winning!!  It's an extra challenge to our usual Friday ones.  Good luck!

Dude Time Doodles - Happy Birthday!

It's time for another Dude Time Doodles challenge and this week the theme is:

Happy Birthday

I've used Rough Night Rodney and coloured him with Promarkers.  I've created the sentiment on the computer and used various papers from my stash.  The star paper is from Polkadoodles and the blue is from Funky Hand and I'm slowly trying to use up my shoe box of bits hence why its a bit of a mix!

I've cut some random stars with my X Cut die (I am really liking these!) and added a doodled line around the edges of the papers and stars.

I hope I'm looking better than Rough Night Rodney today as I have an important event and could possibly be meeting a Very Important Person!  Needless to say, I've had a bath and washed my hair so I'm presentable!

Good luck with the Dude Time Doodles challenge - for more details and to see the Design Team's inspiration, pop over to the challenge blog!  Don't forget - it has to be for a dude!

Stylish

A pretty quick card to make once I'd decided what I was doing!  The image is a stamped Penny Black and I've coloured it with Promarkers to match the paper which is Bazzil Basics Swiss Dots that I've had for ages (since Harrogate September 2009!!)  I've also used some plain pink and black card from my stash for layering.

The sentiment is a magazine freebie and I've used various flowers, the brad and half pearls from my stash that came from different RAK's over the years.

Monster Birthday

I do like bargains and sales. And I especially enjoyed buying around 3,000 Dustin Pike images for $20 (just over £13) at the weekend. And here is one cutie who was in the haul!

I've coloured him with Promarkers and added glossy accents to his eyes (you can't really see as it was rather early this morning when I took the photo!) and added his balloon to a length of wire that I had wrapped around a pencil and it boings around quite a bit!

The monster is the front of the card, and the patterned paper you see behind is the inside of the card.

I've printed quite a few of the images off from the sale, so watch out for those in the future!
