In 2000, BYU and UVU (UVSC) students put together a fight club, invite only, legal because of consensual altercation laws, fights got shut down not because of the brawl but bc of public disturbance as the group quickly grew to 100s of people in attendance.

Framed after the movie but with minimal damage (gloves and rounds implemented), the inexperienced fighters testified of the absolute spirit of vitalism inhabiting the club, describing it as filling a need they didn't even know was there.
Even the author of Fight Club Chuck Palahniuk was aware of that fight club chapter, and brought it up in interviews.

I have also seen my more conservative friends stating that what Holland said was not being taken with the spirit of love it was intended.

The report was compiled at the request of BYU President Worthen. The Committee is made of nine faculty members from administration and the law, sociology, athletics, and social sciences departments. Religion, STEM, and general education were not represented.
Only one of them, Michalyn Steele, appeared on our list of BYU professors to avoid. We apologize for the omissions.

The hot button issue of our time (in the Church) is very clearly, issues raised involving people who identify as LGBT.

I know of very few members of the Church who HAVEN’T been deeply and personally affected by the complexities of these issues.
Difficult, life changing decisions have been made by many as members (Straight and LGBT alike) personally navigate their individual situations.

In 1995 the Church issued The Family: A Proclamation to the World which concisely, definitively and specifically speaks to the doctrine of God regarding marriage, gender, sexuality, and family, ALL of which can be backed by scripture and prophetic teachings.
FACT: Suicide is the number one cause of death of all #Utah youth; this is not the case nationally. More alarming, the teen suicide rate in Utah has doubled since 2011. #LGBT #UTpol #LDS #Mormon #BYU
Another Fact: Teen suicide is lower when there is an #LGBTQ supportive environment. #Utah is notorious for its lack of support for and acceptance of the #LGBT community. #LDS #Mormon #UTpol #BYU
Relatedly, studies show that in areas where homosexuality is tolerated, mental health outcomes for #LGBTQ are the same as non-LGBTQ people. Elevated risk of suicide correlates w/ elevated risk of mental illness that is prevalent among LGBTs living in areas hostile to them.
